Content Update 0.4.0 — Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids

Soo...did I miss something in the patch notes / live stream, or was the previous announcement that 0.4 was focused on improving the endgame a giant bait by GGG?

They said they released "some" of the content early so they could have a better idea of how to improve and implement the new system. The new system is far from good and far from complete. So where is the rest and what were the improvements?

The only real changes to the endgame I saw in the notes were nerfs to an already boring system...so they made it...worse or, at best, no change? (very confused face)

There is still essentially no endgame content so the main chase after the campaign is simply build completion and getting uniques for other builds...pretty much the same as it has been since launch.

I am ultra confused and hope I missed something.

Edit:

I see there is a new league mechanic that is attempting to give meaningful content to the endgame. I have to be a bit negative on this already without playing it for the simple reason that they are repackaging the same general gameplay in a new wrapping. The vaal temple thing is cool but will likely get annoying when you are trying to farm something specific. The rest of it is the same loop, "go run boring af maps for like 45 min, then come back to play the semi-interesting mechanic for a few minutes, then repeat". They even made running maps seemingly worse by giving less monsters to kill and less ways to individually modify your tablets. So now we are more reliant on RNG, have less to kill, use more mana to kill the higher HP enemies, and have to run around large maps to find fewer enemies. ...Did they seriously just cause many of the same issues that were fixed in the last major patch? Mana issues will be back with higher HP enemies; the map and MS/sprint changes were now nullified by having less enemies in the maps effectively making them larger; and we lost predictability in crafting tablets and lost two crafting mechanics altogether.

It seems clear that they prioritized game performance over actual gameplay in this update. Reducing monster density was a way to improve the performance, not a buff to the endgame experience as they are trying to sell it.

I honestly think GGG is starting to show signs of struggling to manage two games at once. This patch is a pretty clear indication for me. They failed to deliver on an improved endgame experience as they said was their focus months ago. They just added more stuff to an endgame that is stagnant, repetitive, and lacking an interesting experience. The endgame is relatively intolerable after ~10 hours if you are playing to experience the actual endgame content; i.e. not preoccupied/distracted by some ulterior motive like leveling, farming currency, farming an item, etc.

Please actually fix the endgame GGG.

I am honestly absolutely confused by this patch and feel the game literally went backward. There seems to be more taken out of the game than added in, and they fixed fewer issues than the ones they ignored or likely brought back.

So its nerfs all around (for the 10th time??) and no improvement for the endgame which is very weak?? I mean come on do you want this game to work or not?

Was super excited to see PoE 2 update but then I read the patch notes, its so "meh". All I can see is doing the ridiculous long campaign only to be bored after 4 hours of the so called end game.

I'm sorry GGG, your tablet type of end game needs a complete overhaul where players can choose more freely what THEY want to do as end game.

No, it wasn't op at all. OP builds never have 1% pick (0.2 Titan pick)
It was good balanced. You needed to invest 636 Strenght in my build. And one-handed can just use shield skills instead of mace skills, so they do at the moment.

Builds was not, but the keystone was. It was kinda mandatory for melee characters, if you'd take a look it was used by 90 or more percent warriors back when it was without HP reduction. It is still useful and used by 80% of players using two-handers in 0.3 (just checked the ninja). Definitely not need a buff.
Overall warriors are in a good spot currently. Its just other meta one-button builds were way too strong (even broken).
Will see how it will be in a new league.

Guess, you have never tried solo 2-h mace without dual wielding or shield in endgame. You will be obliterated in few moments without block (shield) or explode screens (dual wielding). So Giant's blood is mandatory for 2-h warrior. It's his only way to suirvive.

"Overall warriors are in a good spot currently. Its just other meta one-button builds were way too strong (even broken)"

That's totally false. Stampede (or jump), two warcries, rolling slam (or sunder), boneshatter. 5 at least. I added resonating shield and forge hammer.

When you compare 2-h and 1-h warriors, you compare two hoboes, but the first has shoes. Instead of give the 1-h hobo new shoes, you just take away shoes from first hobo. Giants Blood can't be OP. Because nor 2-h neither 1-h war are not OP. Player chooses not between OP, but between "totally crap" and "slow, clunky, controllable crap, but sometimes it can do something". Instead of buffing shield skill, just make the weakest class even more weaker.

This guy speaks the truth.

Svalinn now has "You take 0-20% of Damage From Blocked Hits" (previously 15-20%).
Svalinn now has "200-300% Increased Armour" (previously 150 to 200%).

When GGG realises that no one is using Svalinn and none of the youtube and content providers are talking about Svalinn.

W update
I'm not sure reducing the amount of mobs is a good idea. It was satisfying to pop monsters like popcorns in my opinion.
Big thanks for not nerfing last lament lich build, 0.4 will be great for me :D
druid is not my playstyle, so thanks again
Beside the new unknown druid , it will be again a crap bow league .... you again buffed bows like hell , also giving a Nimis quiver ? WTF??? this game was always giving so much towards bows and a pile of crap towards others... disappointed.
Please let us instant TP for trade while mapping. It sucks that only hideout gamers can easily buy items.
Deadeye nerf - good
Lightning nerf - good
Rhoa buff - bad
Kitava buff - good
Fire, cold buff - good
Bows nerfed - good, but Nimis quiver? - very bad
Crossbows reload still in game - bad
lich + LastLament the only way to play crossbows - very bad
Less but harder mobs - not sure. This should be a node in the Atlas tree so people could choose depends on their build (more solo or clear-screen oriented). Good they reduced packs size and not number of packs.
Some maps still too big and empty (Grotto) - bad
Still +level on gear exist - very bad
Still movement speed is not implicit - very bad
Fog is gone - great
Base movement speed still slow - bad
Endgame not changed - very bad
Bosses' anti-burst mechanic - good
Invoker weak ascendency points not changed - bad
Trial of SuckMyA$$ still mandatory - very bad
Still no swords/axes/daggers - bad
Druid - let's wait and see.
Minions still 3 screens behind - bad
No ToTA - bad
Improved uniques - good, but probably not enough
CPU opymization - very very good
Atlas tree not changed - bad
More punishment for dying (on top of everything we had now we will loos robo parts) - very very bad
ES still OP - bad
