[Feedback] Giga-Nerf Gem Levels on Gear in Patch 0.4.0
We can mostly agree that the balance following Patch 0.3.0 is not in a good spot. One of the largest contributing factors is the insane gem levels found on gear and needs to be toned way down. Another unfortunate side effect of gear having insane gem levels is it invalidates the vast majority of uniques and also makes crafting one-dimensional as items without gem levels is mostly invalidated. This nerf tones down the baseline power of players, which is healthy for the game as it lacks challenge. With that said, I urge GGG to nerf max gem levels found on gear as follows:
* 2H-Mace, Crossbow, Staff, QStaff: Decrease to +5 Max Gem Levels (down from +7) * 1H-Mace, Bow, Wand: Decrease to +3 Max Gem Levels (down from +5) * Amulet: Decrease to +2 Max Gem Levels (down from +3) * Quiver: Decrease to +1 Max Gem Levels (down from +2) * Gloves: Decrease to +1 Max Gem Levels (down from +2) Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Sep 24, 2025, 10:38:09 AM Last bumped on Sep 29, 2025, 11:23:57 AM

As long as they do A LOT of base damage balance for the lower damage skills (which is a lot of work)
Yea I would like to see +gem level mod not be just a I win button on all gear. It sucks when you roll something, but then you see it has no +gems and you end up just trashing it. The mod is simply too powerful and/or required. Both my builds currently Solar orb Fort cry shield wave Without +skills they simply would not deal enough damage. It would push people to play high base damage skills more than it already does. While something like rolling slam, ember fusillade, will still deal high massive damage with these mods turned down. It'd enable more mods on items to be viable. Also overall decreasing damage output of players, which is nice as game is too easy. |

i play ED and it absolutely needs all the extra gem levels to be on the same level as some of the other skills

Nerf itens not skill tree and gems
Itens are too powerful while skill tree and gems feel less impactful, that creates the problem where if you have powerful itens you trample everything and if you dont you suffer at tier 3 maps. To me its not just the skill lvls on itens (which i agree is way overtuned) but also the damage value you get from itens. Today itens are what "make or break" your build. Nerf itens and buff skill tree and gems to make then more impactful |

I don't want direct nerfs but I want power adjustment in how viable they are. I agree it's annoying that they are NEEDED for min max, scale back gem level power in general and buff other sources of power to compensate and balance.
