The Gatcha Problem - Less Randomization feedback and suggestions

"
I met a guy who had no idea how to map, with a full LS build and insane amount of Chance orbs and Divines lol.

He screen shared his stash as I was teaching him how he can mass identify with Doriyani. He was shook that he did not need to use scrolls. Probably didn't even play campaign. Haha.

I am pretty much at the same boat. Game is increasingly pushing me there to sipe my card.

But Switch 2 is near, and I think I'll regain my sanity soon.

I've also met some extremely suspicious people. I ran into at least one obvious buy bot every day when I played. They come to my hide out, sit there until I initiate trade without ever moving, then they stay in my hideout and party for up to 2 hours doing nothing and not moving until they buy a new item. Farming stuff to sell and eventually RMT the currency away I'm sure.

My friend was done with the whole game in less than 3 weeks. For the price of a medium pizza, he got like 50 divs and his build came online, he bought all the fragments and did all on the pinnacle boses upto t3. With like 70 or 80 hours played?

I have over 200 hours this league, i only found 1 copper and 1 stone citadel. I have not yet done an expedition logbook and my build is still incomplete. Ive made less than 20 divs between my 2 characters and still struggling.

Why is it that I feel like the sucker? Im out here grinding and still havent done arbriter yet and still dont have a decent build that can sustain. This game has so much tediousness, time wasting, and heavy RNG built into every game mechanic that it feels like the only way to get rid of that is to RMT. I hate this GGG vision.

Be careful.
People will tell you that you are not juicing maps.
People will claim you need skill.
People will scream that your build sucks and to use a guide.

Good luck Exile.

Sadly I really don't think our feedback is being heard and if it is it's being ignored. They haven't really done anything to combat the absolutely insane hours wasted just trying to get to content other than the breach shards. The breach change was nice but I still feel like they should up the breach fragment drop rate by like 80%. Why is it so bad if I want to fight xesht like 8 times in one day and not have to buy stones from other people on the currency exchange. Fighting the citadel bosses consistently is a pain because they are impossible to find.... don't even get me started on how Arbiter of ash is locked behind three levels of gatcha.

Even just fighting the bosses has the gatcha problem that causes frustrastion.... third party vendors love that type of frustration. I don't see why GGG thinks this is a good idea. If this game is supposed to have cool fun bosses I'm supposed to want to fight... Make them more easily accessible? Like come on.

You should never feel like you're the sucker for not breaking TOS. That's a game design failure.

Over 200 hours, only 2 citadels, incomplete build and made less total 20 divs. Just how ? AFK in your hideout most of the time ?

I hate trading and flipping for trading so I am not doing crazy flips. I can't get myself to keep running trials over and over and not to mention I failed some of them so maybe 10 hours wasted right there. I help people with bosses and sometimes rush some characters. I failed some nexuses as well, at least 2 corrupted nexuses gone. Believe it or not this game requires quite a lot of time to sink into and a lot of my time was before the loot buff.

Also when you are upgrading gear, it can sometimes take a long time before people whisper you back so again more time kill. And sorting inventory.... this game just has major time sink in trivial things.

I hate trading...

Figured. I mean yea sure you can choose not to trade, but the game sadly still is designed and tailored around it. As much as I dislike to follow META, the trade-off by not doing META just because it seems fun is way too harsh.

Oh I don't doubt it. I do believe you. I play 0.2 from day 1. I have a total of 8 days played with my lvl 96 Amazon, and 4 days played with my lvl 94 Deadeye. I only had about 34 raw divine drops, around 1,8k exalts, and 12 perfect jeweller orb before I completely quit playing at 30th of April 2025, before any loot buffs / changes. But most of my currencies came from trade, and if I liquidated all my assets back then before I quit / the loot buffs, I would sit at 300 divines more or less.

I don't play PoE for a living, but I also don't have a conventional 9-5 weekdays job in the office so I can afford to play quite alot everyday, maybe 4-5 hours everyday. I can imagine how hard it was for casuals to get raw currency drop, and how frustrating it is to get upgrades without relying on trade in a reasonable time.

But hey, the state of loot before 0.2g and 0.2h was the "Vision" right ? I wonder why they reverted it in mid league and still fail to realize the actual issue with the loot.

Unfortunately that's how RNG works. Statistically there will be people who just don't have the same luck with rolls. Hence why people are complaining. You obviously got lucky. I'm level 88 league this and have yet to get to a citadel. Last time I played one finally appeared on the edge. Last league i got easily 20 citadels in the same amount of time for reference.

So unless GGG adds some sort of failsafe garuntee there will always be statistical anomalies.

Hence why target farming is usually used in random loot based games as a way to mitigate bad luck by allowing repeated attempts

Unfortunately its not luck, but the way and intensity of gaming session I did everyday. Majority of people couldn't afford to play the game everyday for 4-5 hours because they have job, or family, and any other responsibilities. I, for one, don't have a conventional 9-5 weekdays job in the office. I would say I have a total of 288 hours in just 3 weeks when 0.2 release, and its a number that majority of people can't afford.

When the game is tailored and balanced around trading, efficiency become the key in character progression. Combined on how poorly received the changes in 0.2 , the early campaign that become slow because of nerfs, the loot nerfs, the slot machine system of "crafting", players that can afford to play alot more in week 1 can establish power in the market early easily.

Those META cucks, including me, that play everyday for 4-5-7 or even 10 hours a day able to progress way further, faster, sooner, and get ahead than the casuals. And when the casuals and these META players exists in the same economic environment, META players able to reap alot of advantages from those that are slow. Resulting in the casuals having bad time to get upgrades because on how "bad" the loot was, on how the "crafting" system works, on how players are dependent on trade for progression.

All of this problem can be traced back and stemmed from the game is just still like PoE 1, designed and tailored around trading, and yet PoE 2 tries to invent a new wheel in an established system.

On the note of Citadel, I quite agree with RNG aspect in finding citadels, because the type is completely RNG. The citadel spawn however is not. The atlas is just more or less the same like 0.1 , the further you go, the more citadels will spawn. Pick a direction, keep going in that direction, don't explore in a circle.

Players that seek to juicing the the maps tend to not go in a straight line when exploring the atlas, they often go sideways to look for the tower. It could lead into a misunderstanding that they can't find citadels despite having exploring the atlas further, when in reality, they explore the atlas in a circle, not in a straight line.
