The Gatcha Problem - Less Randomization feedback and suggestions

I'm roughly 100 plus or minus 10 maps in a straight line south and only saw the citadel the last time I played. At the time I was playing 6-8 hours a day before I switched to expedition 33. There is an RNG to the citadels even when you get further away. Yes it increases your odds, but you can still get unlucky. I've literally seen people selling citadels in global/trade chat as well as advertisements sent to me on this very website through DM so I would say it's also part of the gatcha system.

bump. get with it.

Deep down they have to know that for the longevity of the game they have to make some of these systems less frustrating. Even in gatcha games only one system is intentionally designed to be frustrating the rest is usually seamless and fun.... or else people wouldn't play.

The funniest part is that poe 2 doesn't have any p2w mechanic and yet the game is flooded with gatchas and layers of gambling on top of more gambling

I feel like Korean MMOs are going to learn a lot from poe 2 lol

I honestly expect an MTX to be added that works like an omen and has like 15 charges..... that just boost your luck by like 98% at this point. They aren't doing anything to fix the frustrations so in my eyes that means they plan to exploit them somehow.
No other reason to keep them in the game at this point. 🤷

Cuz I'm a new player and they don't have any trust built with me.

I got my moneys worth for playtime, I would like to play more but in it's current state getting improvements to gear is just too terrible. I don't like buying gear unless I'm desperate. I attempted to craft 100's of items from a good base and they're were all complete garbage, the exalted orb adds junk T1 mods then if I still have any hope I chaos orb and then it's bricked. I made maybe 2 of my own upgrades from 120hrs+ of T15 mapping. And they're mediocre at best. I love this type of game but damn, I don't like gamblimg at all. This is overkill on rng is just crap.

i'm literally addicted...

I quit playing the game for Expedition 33. I don't plan on coming back until they change things. I don't have enough time to sink into nondetermenistic bs. It could be a good game. But they are so set on making it a randomized hell hole of suffering... that until they change it I'm not going to waste my time.

totally agree

Over 200 hours, only 2 citadels, incomplete build and made less total 20 divs. Just how ? AFK in your hideout most of the time ?
Unfortunately that's how RNG works. Statistically there will be people who just don't have the same luck with rolls. Hence why people are complaining. You obviously got lucky. I'm level 88 and have yet to get to a citadel. Last time I played one finally appeared on the edge.

So unless GGG adds some sort of failsafe garuntee there will always be statistical anomalies.

Hence why target farming is usually used in these games as a way to mitigate bad luck by allowing repeated attempts
Unfortunately its not luck, but the way and intensity of gaming session I did everyday. Majority of people couldn't afford to play the game everyday for 4-5 hours because they have job, or family, and any other responsibilities. I, for one, don't have a conventional 9-5 weekdays job in the office. I would say I have a total of 288 hours in just 3 weeks when 0.2 release, and its a number that majority of people can't afford.

When the game is tailored and balanced around trading, efficiency become the key in character progression. Combined on how poorly received the changes in 0.2 , the early campaign that become slow because of nerfs, the loot nerfs, the slot machine system of "crafting", players that can afford to play alot more in week 1 can establish power in the market early easily.

Those META cucks, including me, that play everyday for 4-5-7 or even 10 hours a day able to progress way further, faster, sooner, and get ahead than the casuals. And when the casuals and these META players exists in the same economic environment, META players able to reap alot of advantages from those that are slow. Resulting in the casuals having bad time to get upgrades because on how "bad" the loot was, on how the "crafting" system works, on how players are dependent on trade for progression.

All of this problem can be traced back and stemmed from the game is just still like PoE 1, designed and tailored around trading, and yet PoE 2 tries to invent a new wheel in an established system.

On the note of Citadel, I quite agree with RNG aspect in finding citadels, because the type is completely RNG. The citadel spawn however is not. The atlas is just more or less the same like 0.1 , the further you go, the more citadels will spawn. Pick a direction, keep going in that direction, don't explore in a circle.

Players that seek to juicing the the maps tend to not go in a straight line when exploring the atlas, they often go sideways to look for the tower. It could lead into a misunderstanding that they can't find citadels despite having exploring the atlas further, when in reality, they explore the atlas in a circle, not in a straight line.
Thank you for putting it into perspective and this is actually the case. In my first patch 0.1, I had tens of citadels after about 300+ hours. I would always see one in the fog and they were close by. This time, RNG is so bad that even after going in one direction, I am not really coming across any. I don't know what they did or RNG must be really bad for me this patch compared to last patch.

I have an online friend who all he does is trade and that's how he makes his divs. He is even trying to show me how I can do it but I don't want an ebay or a craigslist simulator, I want to play the game. It's unfun to sit there and learn all about the different stats/gears in demand and then craft blue bases to resell or just flip items. I want to actually play the game. yet the people who I have come across with the most number of divs are the ones that played the "trade game". Most people are not going to find raw currency and loot drops in this game are a joke.

I dont mind a little of the gambling personally. However, it's just so overwhelmingly present it's nauseating. Even some of the skill gems and support gems are RNG based and that just feels bad. For example elemental Conflux feels absolutely horrible and I tried to get it working using flame wall and drenched with lightning spells. But gear stat lines never gave all 3 elemental damage... and as far as I'm aware there arent any triple elemental skills, weapons, uniques, or any other way of consistently having all three elements during your 8 second uptime boost.

I think it's just way too overdone and is omnipresent no matter what you do. Want to map? RNG. Want to farm endgame bosses? RNG want to do damage? RNG. Want to get upgrades? RNG. Want to craft? RNG. Want to play through the campiagn quickly? Map genration RNG. Want to farm for top tier non-pinnacle uniques? You guessed it RNG... ETC.
It's like Diablo damage on Tuesday meme.... but for everything.

The only deterministic way of playing this game is on the trade website playing stock market simulator.... and that's just sad because the game has so many good parts that are drown out by RNG grind walls.

I just wish that once a citadel spawned of one type it would no longer spawn and as long as you had T16 maps you could retry. Lock it behind T16 maps, those are generally rare enough.
