Is the problem Jonathan?

im playing poe for over 10 years now, and the last year was full of lies, dishonesty and disappointing patches in both games. something that never ever happened before. i dont know if jonathan is the problem, but the person in charge causing this terrible year is the problem.
for me personally its not about bad seasons, they can happen. its about loosing trust in this company in every aspect.

I feel this. Disappointing patches or me preferring a different direction is fine, but the communication does feel a lot different ever since PoE2 dropped- in a bad way. Still optimistic overall and generally having fun when I do log in, but they hurt a lot of trust this year in multiple ways.

Im curious how exactly. Cause as someone who never played POE1 the communication from GGG feels just not as good as people say.

The communication is very infrequent and lacks transparency.

to cut it short, yes Jonathan is the problem since Jonathan is in charge of poe2, meaning its his decision whats happening to the game.

Thats a witch hunt... Things are never that easy. and hard decisions need to be taken sometimes... Yet, I am almost sure that while Jonathan can influence a few things, 80% of the company isnt owned by Jonathan.

A wise man once said, that it wasn't the King the one which was the more powerful in a Kingdom, but the one which controlled the cash flow. This also applies in modern corporate history.

You see the end results, which often are the reflection of the whole structure. As a metaphore, you are judging the architecture of a skyscrapper by the color of the lobby.

That said, have a nice day.

for all this years, there have been some perfect seasons, there have been some bad seasons, there have been a lot of things i like and not that many things i dont like. but ggg was honest all the time and they kept there promises, every single time. they overdelivered so many times on their promises and that trust was on a rly high level. i have to say it, everybody and their mother trusted chris wilson, and i fckn miss bex. its kinda sad that so many people dont know former ggg, yes things were better than, communication was better.
and nowadays they hide information while knowing better, they promise going ballistic on balance while delivering nothing at all, pulling out one maintenance league after another. promising complete endgame changes while again delivering nothing at all.
either they dont want to, or they aren't capable of doing better anymore and its sad.
at least i would immediately increase development time between seasons. prior poe2 we had to wait 3 months for a season that was cooked for 3 months. now we wait 4 months for a season that is cooked at best 2 months (and i dont believe dev time is split evenly). we are getting unpolished half baked untested seasons and you can feel that. both games deserve better, players deserve better
Yes!
yes.
I'm curious. Were there any kind of streams by Jon or someone else from their top tier who actually play poe2 and naturally enjoy it leveling at least more than 2 characters thru endless acts?
I have a feeling they just don't play their own game and simply orient on other popular games (that not even close by core gameplay) with all this dodge rolls and other bs we see in here.

This, and if you point anything out, all the yes men jump in claiming skill issues.. doesnt change the fact that most of us feel this way. I mean, I can suffer through it once or twice.. but long term? I could not justify coming back for leagues just to keep doing this slog over and over. They need to decide if they want an ARPG or a Souls-like.. I have felt nothing but annoyance and frustration this league. No fun, no happiness, just me being ready to smash my controller.

The answer to the question in the title is No. The studio is creating a type of game that has never existed before. It's going to take time to get it right. There are tons of details, and tons of content, that needs to be added. The development arc is going fine.

Also, there's no serious alternative. I thought Last Epoch might be, but no. Too easy for me to bother trying it. PoE2 is going to be fine.

No Rest for the Wicked, literally already exists and does what PoE2 is trying to do but better...

+1 for both fire and drops being absolutely godawful. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they keep nerfing fire spells into the floor when they were already underperforming to begin with. They adjust meta builds with the softest possible touch while absolutely destroying nonmeta, which is the complete opposite of how they should be approaching balance.

And yeah, sifting through gear when 99.9999999% of it is literally useless is about as fun as a toothache.

From a technical perspective, no. They are on the Unity engine, which isn't able to do what the GGG engine can do. Moon Studios might migrate to a different engine someday, but they are hard-capped on the level of complexity they can introduce.

Last Epoch has a similar hard cap. That's part of the reason the art style is more cartoony than the PoE art style. Both Blizzard and GGG use in-house game engines, to avoid this problem.

That might be fine, if Moon Studios compensates for it through general enjoyability. But Last Epoch has had a hard time selling microtransactions, and that might affect No Rest also.
