Ran a loot party tonight. 4 overlapping towers with 6% quant irridated + breach tablets, and all points in waystones and precursor explicits, and 4 points in breach w/host having ~180 MF. dropped over a div worth of loot per map easily and consistently.
So, the rules are the same as last time but i would be shocked if the drop rates were not just simply cut in half from last league and no change in the effects of rarity sub 200%. If you ran hundreds of hours in endgame last league and then a hundred in the endgame of the current league, this seems fairly obvious.
The knowledge and time/work to get these kinds maps going only to get some sort of loot is ridiculous. Imagine a "normal/casual" player trying to set this up, they will give up halfway already.
I am pretty sure GGG are dependent on a wider playerbase to finance PoE2. At the current state I feel like the majority are giving up before endgame even begins and those who get there give up short thereafter.
In D4 loot rains on you from lvl 1. In PoE 2 you get no loot whatsover. There must be some sort of middleground.

i was complaining few days ago. Meanwhile i got used to it and good drops, like a greater jewel yesterday feel much more rewarding then before. This is weird, but i think its not that bad. All you want is way more patience.

it's very true that finding things feels much better when drops suck!
also we are barely over a week into league and people are upset about not finding some of the strongest, rarest items (or even more wild, they find 1 or 2 and it's not enough).
a league goes for 3-4 months, if you already find 1 in a week what are we upset about hmm
my concern though is about SSf and upgrading gear, feels so bad right now and being a prisoner to RNG for something like improving gear is an awful design, very punishing, when I do get the right roll on gear it doesn't feel good, it feels like "yeah about fucking time" lol which isn't how it should feel imo

Yes overall drops are horrifyingly low. I'm totally cool with nerfing rarity and the bg group loot bot sessions but end game has been nothing but a slog. I've gotten to 20 towers and completed 10 nexus and have dropped 1 divine and very very little loot of any value, nor found a citadel, have had enough splinters to get either simulacrum or breachstone, and I've done 4 logbooks with no Olroth
I was excited about the recombinator but in the words of Mark "They seriously fucked that up" too. It's a shame they wasted some employees time designing that last minute to cram into the game.
Forget about waystone sustain now the issue is currency sustain. Running exalts and alchemy's in maps to try to get more loot is expensive and rarely seems to provide any reliable boost in the loot. I understand RNG is a thing but if I increase rarity of items and quanity of items and rare monsters, the rare monsters should drop more quantity of rare items, bit this is like mmore augments/transmute and more low tier rare trash.
I do enjoy the content itself, the new maps and mechanics are all good sadditions for the most part (besides wisps, they suck) but it doesn't feel like it will be worth playing for too much longe.
Id give the patch a 2/10 on launch and it's been whittled and chaosed up to a 5/10.
Will GGG have enough splinters, and artificers orbs to take to the currency exchange so they can get a divine to try to reroll their patch again?
Find out next week
In no world did they make this a 5/10. 3.5 maybe. Remove stuns and its a 5

I was just thinking that they seem to have tweaked drops. Im still in the campaign on cruel and I have seen rare monsters drop a white flask and that's it.
They changed something and didn't tell us. I feel like they said fine, we will fix this and that, but they took half the loot away.
You know, stuff like this is more often tinfoil stuff, BUT in this case, GGG already did such a thing in the past.
They heavily nerfed loot and didn't tell us until the community gathered enough data to say "GGG, we can prove that something is wrong - what have you changed!?", so GGG had to come out and tell us that they "oopsi whoopsi, we changed drop rates UwU, but the changes are not so huge - you only have a wRoNg feeling about it - it's not that bad trololol".
Yeah... only "not so bad" that we caught you in 4k.
Lower loot drops mean people play more.

i dont mind it being somewhat more oppressive as far as rewards go. but my issue is with the reverse difficulty of the passive trees. It gets EASIER as you invest points into it, so it is the hardest to get your first points. They could fix this by making your first audience of the king show up more frequently or lower first splinter requirements etc The only one that scales up properly is Arbiter and the Boss passive tree. They get harder each tinme and the rewards you get from them dont make it exceptionally easier to get more out of the mechanic of fighting a boss without a noticeable increase in challenge.
not just to make it easier but to make the maps feel like they have value.
right now i have basically committed to the strat of unsepeccing my passive atlas tree and only investing in strongboxes and essence because essence are just rares that dont attack me first and strongboxes are totally optional and dont fight me..no pack size, no juicing. just jumping aroud to find Corrupted nexus as well as identify groups of towers, and as a party blast through the clusters and nexus. Also, i just bought 4 audiences in the currency exchange last night and ran the first 2 just now. investing in rituals early because its profitability is not affected by the busted drop rates or rarity.
im sure there are some exploits to farm otherwise but this to me seems like the most fair way to approach this content right now and not feel like i am wasting my time

spoke a little bit too soon, i enjoy the content of the end game but the drop rates make it feel like there is no value to continually play. having to basically strategize around what feels like a broken and oppressive slog is def not a 5/10.

I'm considering quitting because I don't feel like trading on console. I'd like to craft items. Unfortunately, I don't have any currency. The loot is getting more and more boring.
There's one good thing. The game is harder.
I love tough bosses and tough gameplay, but my character is stagnating. It doesn't feel good.

Hahaha hahaha hahaha, welcome to the vision bois. This is why people want to zoom-zoom in campaign, because the game still designed around Path of Exile 1 itemization and trading. Campaign enjoyers can tell themselves that the recent nerfs was bad and the zoomers are going to doom PoE 2, but this is the reality of 50/50 design between PoE 1 itemization and PoE 2 "tactical meaningful combat".
Those that zooming quickly to endgame maps, those that play META build, those that play PoE 1 builds, able to generate more amount of loots and higher quality loots, and those that still playing the campaign, well good luck in getting upgrades from the market. Either you can't afford the exact stat and gear pieces that you need for your build / character progression because people just put them in dump-stash of minimum 1 divine , or getting frustrated by pm-ing everyone that sell that gear for 1-5 exalts but nobody invites you because 1 to 5 exalts trade is not worth to stop mapping flow.

They need to remove these identifiers and improve filter loot... This way you always see base itens that you want and rare itens that you want....
