Out of touch director refusing to acknowledge what everyone is thinking

Dodge roll and parry feel completely out of place and unfun in a game where you fight packs of 20-100 enemies at once. This is not a Souls game where you pull 1 mob at a time or maybe a few, and look carefully at what their next action is. Its impossible to do that with a huge monster pack and isometric camera view.
Jonathan needs to realize an ARPG just feels much better without any mechanics like this and if the player has nice movement speed and survival is dependent on: - Good positioning and Movement Skills - Defenses actually mattering, unlike in this game Delete the dodge roll and parry from the game, put Quicksilver flasks in. I disagree. Everything you said is what I think is actually wrong with POE 1 and other arpgs. Stiff, wacky, and not enjoyable. Nothing feels grounded with that type of gameplay. I think monsters and their modifiers are the real problem along with zone sizes in general. Not our speed or dodge roll.

" Makes no sense. Its the roll and lack of Movement Skills that makes this game feel stiff and clunky. Movement feels much better in PoE. Also watch the Huntress gameplay demo from 3 years ago from 14:32 timestamp onward. Before PoE2 had dodge or WASD movement. Looks like absolutely god tier gameplay, clearly way more fun and smoother than what we have now. |

Stop looking at the staged gameplay videos as a reference. Even the videos in teasers for this league made the Huntress look cool and combos smooth. Slayerfum is right in that if they want to go towards the souls-like vision they need to examine the differences between souls and arpg encounters with trash mobs. Maybe they make monster swarms extremely rare, dangerous, and rewarding? Zone shrinkages, speed modifications, etc. There are a ton of factors they would have to look at.
Or they make screen-nuking abilities viable. But that doesn't seem like something they ever want to see in this game. |

"Why are players stuck thinking only of dodge roll and parry when they're clearly not the right tools against 40 mobs charging at you faster than you can move? What is this one dimensional thinking? Ok technically you can use Parry -> Disengage -> Glacial Lance to deal with the mob but the point still stands: why aren't you exploring other options? Do you need to see someone else using mass slows first? Do you need a tutorial on how to conjure a wall to limit enemy pathing so you re-create a 1v1 scenario? |
