Severe shortage of Regal Orbs

I have 18 hours of playtime.
I have gotten 1 regal and 2 exalts.

So, what? I could craft ONE item? In 18 hours?

They don't just need to increase drops of regals.

They need to raise overall drops by a factor of 10. At least.
Make it so exalted shards drop

Make it so regal and exalted shards function exactly the same as regal and exalted orbs, except they cant be used past item level 50. item can only have 2 prefixes and 2 suffixes

make them drop like CANDY

I have lots more good ideas like this one just ask

How about making regals and exalts drop like candy?
It's the only meaningful crafting we've got for the entire campaign, possibly the rest of the game.

My current rating is one exalt per nine hours of gameplay. Yes, you heard that correctly. I can craft f*** all.

An ARPG with no loot, is no game at all.
I feel like there would be some bad unintended consequences of having full blown exalted orbs raining down on the player during the campaign but idk, maybe

The solution to a basic problem like campaign leveling gear should never be trade.

...is just a random arbitrary rule you decided to make up out of nowhere for no reason. Like says who? I genuinely just don't even understand how to begin rationalizing this attitude.

You will sit and stare at vendors and get frustrated and slog through hours of content with sub-par gear, but somehow spending 5 minutes trading for an item you need is unacceptable? It's just absolute and utter nonsense.

Not everyone plays trade league. You don't have to make ssf campaign half assed miserable.

GGG is on record stating that the game is not designed around SSF and it never will be.

Some noob should be able to login, never interact with another player, and get the gear to do campaign.

Again, why? This is just another unnecessary and arbitrary restriction that you're making up out of nowhere for no reason. If you're struggling for a lack of upgrades and the only thing standing between you and success is 3 minutes spent trading and you refuse to do so then that's just a you thing. You're making the game harder for yourself for absolutely no rational reason and I think it's likewise irrational for you to insist that GGG retune the game around your refusal to use a basic and fundamental feature of the game.

Test it for yourself if you're interested. Go make a character on ssf.

No thanks dude. SSF sounds awful and I'm fully aware it is not how GGG intends the game to be played.

If I want an experience like SSF I would just play a different game.

Look man, as far as I'm concerned, and it's a perfectly arbitrary rule, I like to complete the campain without trading.
Admittedly though I'm feeling stupid for it at the moment, the balance/economy of the game clearly favors trading even in the campain.

The intent ISN'T stupid though. In my opinion trading for campain gear completely trivializes any loot or self-crafting you could do. Which is a shame because it's part of the fun
In my opinion there is a MASSIVE balance issue here.
Jonathan at some point said they would have failed if you didn't pick up some exalts to use on your gear early and on in the campain

Well unfortunately it is quite a failure. 1 ex is worth many times more as an exchange currency than it is as a crafting method during campain.
Basically unless you are unforcing a rules upon yourself to play sff during the campain, there is no reason ever to use an exalt on your gear instead of using it to trade and getting exactly what you want. I don't think this is how it's supposed to be.

You spend something like 10 regals or 10 exalts to get 1 item.

You're wasting your time if you regal any item thats not already 2 mod and you should expect it to stay 2 mod.

I've found as many Exalts as Regals. I've found 18 of each.

evidence is there, they nerfed the loot drops rates in 0.2.0 again, from what it was back in December/January,

kind of annoying the game was in a good spot.

then they nerfed it again, unsure why, but GGG likes doing wierd things.
Didn't they remove rarity from applying to currency or something like that? Either way its very noticeable and makes SSF extremely hard to even play
We all understand the notion that GGG has intended for this game to be based around trade but that doesn't mean the foundation of basic loot/currency acquisition through playing the game needs to be complete dog. Noone is asking for GG weapons and gear to instantly drop for SSF players even though trade players can trivialize the entire early game with a couple exalts all they are saying is that there is a noticeable change to drop rates that makes the basic game not fun.

You are on a forum of a game company that would not exist had Activision/Blizzard not f'd up Diablo 3 with crap loot and forced trade. A/B intentionally neutering loot drops and game mechanics to push everyone to trade for better gear is what opened the door for GGG to become successful with POE. Now here we are with GGG attempting the failed D3 loot experiment in POE2, where everything dropped is crap, crafting mechanics to make the drops better have been neutered, and we have to trade to get better gear. This wasn't fun in the past. It's not fun now. It won't be fun in the future. All GGG is doing with POE2 is opening the door for some other company to make an actual new, fun ARPG where the loot and crafting options are fun, and allow progression through the campaign and into endgame with little to no trading. Trading should exist, yes, but should be reserved for high-end, coveted, and/or perfectly rolled/crafted gear.

Telling everyone that crap loot and crafting throughout the campaign is not a problem, because just trade, is a bad, not fun game that will ultimately fail. Sooner or later someone else will come along and take all your customers.
I'm not sure why there's a discussion trying to blame something like crafting when it's obvious they nerfed currency drops without telling us, they basically reverted the currency buff from December.
