I do like the point you made that Fromsoft games aren't hard -- they're well balanced. The myth they're hard comes from the gross incompetence of the average player, who doesn't realize the last 30 years of games have specifically been made to make the greatest profit. Which means greatest sales. Which means catering to the absolute lowest common denominator. Anytime a modern game doesn't instantly do that (See: Fromsoft) and makes a reasonable game, there is this delusion that it's somehow hard from the incompetents, and "well-balanced" in their mind will always be hard. Thus, anything that actually IS hard, is unfathomable for them.
absolutely hate to break it to you man by the developers at Fromsoft don't work for free either so this just doesn't make sense. if you make a good game, gamers will pay for it. the lowest common denominator problem comes after the original team sold out
Maximizing profits isn't the same as paying your employees and breaking even -- or making a significant profit.
Maybe in your (I would say syphilis ridden, but c'mon, I'd never accuse you of having sex, unprotected or not) mind, you somehow think catering to the worst scrubs in order to make maximum profits for worthless leeches who want to earn money by doing nothing is the same as "making a profit" which is exactly my point.
See, selling out happens when a company gets bought, then the new owners/executives/new bosses of the company tell the Devs to dumb it down for incompetent morons (like some people...) so they can maximize profits for the game, instead of allowing Devs to make a profitable, successful. good, game with their vision and long term game design goals. BUT OH MY GOD IT COULD HAVE MADE SHAREHOLDERS SLIGHTLY MORE MONEY THIS QUARTER IF WE MADE THE GAME SHIT AND SOLD 15% MORE COPIES TO COMPLETE MORONS! WE BOUGHT THIS COMPANY TO BLEED IT DRY, NOT MAKE GOOD GAMES! (or a very successful sequel to an already very profitable game) and makes it easy for baddies whose favorite hobby is to have para-social relationships with double digit IQ weirdos who stream themselves playing video games while, literally, having roaches crawl on them. They gotta play that game and feel good too, gotta be part of "the culture" man! In fact, the thing that made Fromsoft so successful is the Devs fighting against that trend -- and you and people like you. So suck it up, buttercup.
Not being good at a video game isn't a moral flaw, but being upset that you're not good at a specific video game and demanding it cater to you certainly is. That's not a game problem.

I wasn't tryign to compare developers or games specifically moreso Path of Exile 2 trying to take on similar aspects of the souls like genre. Like the checkpoint bosses and similar feel bossfight mechanics, the level of challenge.
I think to have a better formula for this it needs to go away from the POE 1 approach of having large areas with lots of monsters, and maybe a bit smaller areas, with meaningless trash but more meaninful monsters.
I think Nioh 1 and Nioh 2 did a really good job of taking the soulslike genre and adapting in certain elements of this type of arpg with a loot system and skill trees. I think GGG could learn a lot from their approach and adapt it to this instead of trying to kind of do both things.

+1
Spending 45minutes trying to kill Geonar as a melee huntress.
A class they just released and is unplayable with current damage.
In addition they did nothing to tune ANY of the bosses for melee, again, and the boss is completely unplayable with the quick repetition of moves which don't allow melee attacks. I have 3 rare items equipped including a rare spear with +Phys and can't kill a1 boss???
Go grind some levels, act1 normal boss is notorious for being a little too difficult without gear and level.

I'll just stick to souls-liek games if I want this level of difficulty and punishment.
Nah the difference is Souls games are challenging, but fair. I love Souls games, even the bad ones (DS2). The state this game is in, is not challenging, it's frustrating, annoying, and punishing without being fair. It could be fair and challenging, but the way they are going it's getting worse and worse.

Hence why I will stick to the souls games.
But ya, my point exactly.
