The souls like approach.

I use to enjoy this game so much. Had fun with polc monk until i got dual heralds. Witch and spark stormweaver were great. LA Deadeye not my style but still fun.

This new patch is such a slug and I am frustrated half of the time. I am begging people in global 1 to hellp me kill bosses after 45 mins of trying to kill draven or lanchan. I never had these issues in 0.1. If they dont fix this in a week, I am out for the league.

It's worse than you think. The numbers are completely random, they don't know what they're doing.

I have ascended to Lich in standard and picked her best nodes.

I have 10 top end jewels equipped

Nine of those, (eight on tree and one on Lich Tree : +/- 300 div each) :
15% to 20% increased maximum energy shield
15% increased minion damage
25% increased minion critical damage bonus
20% increased minion critical damage chance

And a +3 to skeletal storm mage Prism of Belief for a total of 40 levels (max)

My minions resistances are capped
My resistance are capped
My energy shield is at 10k

I'm using legacy gear from standard, which means I'm over geared and it's not accessible in the new economy.

The DPS per minion is currently at 38k and previously was at 170k.
From 17 mages to 13.

I died at wave 11 and it was not close at all. No matter how fast i want to run from them, they don't die quickly enough and I get overwhelmed. Even the prior levels were hard.

Dude are you kidding me? I thought it was just me with spark stormweaver, i was dying in like t10 maps because after 4 casts I would run out of mana. I also have an infernalist but if you are telling me thats how much damage you are doing and dying in wave 11...this is bad. what a dogshit of a patch.

It is bad. And this is with Lich, and she deals much more damage than an infernalist would because of a doubled jewel slot she has + extra chaos damage node. They went with random numbers and didn't test anything. The minion class is 100% ruined.

That's the thing. Souls like games are 30-40 hours and a contained experience. Path of Exile 2 is expecting the player to experience 100's of hours with that type of gameplay. It is just going to burn people out. I played for 3 hours (only had 10 crashes) and barely got through the red vail.

I am already done. Which is fine, I am a casual. But I know that 85% of their player base probably is too.

I can't believe they pushed out this half cooked patch just to try and screw over EHG.

A game being difficult does not make it a souls like. Also, souls games are not hard, they have great balance. Completed all From Soft games many times over, and im not some great gamer. GGG just doesnt understands souls games. It will not work in PoE, the entire "meaningful, combo focused combat". In souls games you are fighting 1 - 3 enemies most of the time, you are not fighting mob packs of 20-30 enemies, many of them who can 1 tap you, are fast as hell, and overwhelm you. Thats why people play screen clear builds, to not have to deal with this BS. This combo combat, multiple abilities will never work in this game, at the time you use your 3rd ability with slow animations, youre dead, or stunned and dead, or frozen and dead. It somewhat "works" in campaign, where there are much less enemies, but in endgmae, juiced maps it will not work. And now they nerfed our damage hard, so its even more difficult. Theyve also BUFFED the enemies. AND nerfed our defenses, im not even going to talk about armor. Its crazy.

I completely agree with you with everything. It's also the fact that you fight a boss in this, if you die it resets and you gotta get good and keep trying. I am not a fan of that approach for these games and I have played enough Arpgs whether like these or souls like. Also the bosses are not rewarding enough for the amount of pain it takes to get through them during the first play through. Once you have leveling uniques or gear....sure it's fine. That first playthrough though...It's just not enjoyable or worth the punishment.

I had that same feeling of despair doing the worm in the mud burrow...so kudos to you to push that far.

It's just the campaign and act 1. I leveled a few characters initially on first Early access. I just don't have the patience for it now I suppose.

-folks do not want to explore more builds Like diff skill/support gems, passive tree, gear, etc - and try to find another "Spark" ;)
"PoE1 Clone Has No Future!" ;) | EA 0.2 | Trade is EZ mode. ;) | Path of Trading ;) | "TLDR: -1 Devs ohhh" (Lol.) | "I've played a lot of videogames. It's my primary recreational activity. Best games ever: Elden Ring and Diablo 4." ~Elon Musk, 2023 | "Dawg", "IQ 48" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ | [Removed by Support]

It's not so much about not wanting to explore other options.

People play standard to see how the changes are actually affecting their characters and builds in the endgame so that they can see where they sit when they get there.

Considering the amount of investment they had and to get to the point of where they were to where they are now. I would say these are substantial changes. This affects peoples decision whether or not to get back into the game or not.
Ya, but in the recent interview(s) from GGG..not sure if you saw.

It's basically like, paraphrasing..

The recent interviews of GGG/streamers - they express that 0.2 is like "a new game", and while perhaps that may be a bit of a stretch, I do see their sentiments from the patch notes, and really, you have to play to see for yourself -- there's just no way every one has some crystal ball/oracle and knows exactly the impact those 0.2 patch notes have done to the game/experience definitively (no matter how much you analyze it and, "Path of Building" it, predict every mob/boss/class interaction, etc -- simply impossible).

The intention of the post was that, because in this game, when you figth a boss and die, it resets like in souls games. It can feel like you hit a wall and can't progress. You have to learn the fight to progress which is fine...if there is a reasonable challenge. In POE 2s current state as in 0.2. Doing this for the first playthrough, as in without levelling items, unless you play a specific way, it is punishing, exhausting and not rewarding. This makes for a bad experience. Whether comparing to another game, a previous version of the game or not.
