Is the Goal of GGG to Build a Game Supporting a few Meta Builds? If Not then They Failed.
a fraction of the skills are in of course you're limited

yup screw this going back to poe 1 at least i can actually make a build from scratch there thats not some generic cookie cutter build that will make a 3000 dollor pc file a restraining order from crashing

When you can have like 9 six links of course the build diversity will be low. You just include every good ability from the weapon ure using and so most builds will be very similar.
And to make it even worse most skills from the same weapons scale their damage the same way, so they will all be good. Plug and play all your abilities. In PoE2 a monk build could be Ice Strike, Bell, Flicker build. Thats 1 build. In PoE1 you would have an Ice Strike build, Bell (it would be reworked to be something standalone in PoE1) build and a Flicker build. 3 seperate builds which would be built in different ways. |

You could legitimately remove half the skills in the game and no one would notice. I find that to be problematic.

That is the very definition of broken, dear lord.

" I think the early game pretty clearly indicates it was their intent at some point; weapon swap/weapon skill points, armor break etc. Even Areagne, the forgotten witch who - ironically - I imagine everyone has forgotten... i.e special rare mobs designed to introduce specific mechanics. " You could also replace most enemies with a cube and no one would notice. :D |

Love the just flat out complaining, here cause it greatly overlooks a crap ton of known facts.....
A.) 90% of the builds out there that are OP cause they got access to gear that was to be ultra rare via a bug.... Otherwise most people couldn't even get close. B.) The devs needed us to playtest a bit to see what was when combined / built out ended up being over powered or under powered. Yeah I know... They can play test. Yes they can pull staff to play test the game. Probably have a decent amount of staff to playtest as their main role.... Still does not equal 500k players hammering it daily 24/7.... C.)The devs know they need to remove the power from those builds and pull the others up. They said that.... HOWEVER GGG as a whole rarely does mid league nerfs. They could of came in at the 0.1.1 and hit everythign with a hammer, and the game would be dead now till they were ready for the 0.2.0 patch.... Which is probably in Feb/March. If I had to guess probably March. D.)We have gave them the hard raw data to make some huge serious swing changes. E.)We are missing half the classes, and and even an ascendency for each of the ones we have. F.)They had an annual closedown.... A culture aspect of being in New Zealand. Here is a snip from the new zealand government site: "So yes they were all at home essentially told to not be working as it has government rules they have to follow.... G.) a side effect of not making mid league nerfs unless it's breaking servers or player experience is what is known as the shifting meta.... For example everyone will play hearld of ice and blow the entire screen up... 0.2.0 will change how herald of Ice shatter range is, to pull it down to more of a pack size and not the whole screen... It will still be good and work just like before but two things happen... 1.) people will feel the nerf aka their super OP builds won't be super shooting whole screens, AND they kind of bored of it anyways. 2.) someone will find some other game breaking interaction, cause we have SO much to work with unlike other games... That a new OP build or builds come out. Youtubers flock to it cause they get paid to show them off. It's how they make a living. Thus the players who don't know the game flock to it for renewed fun... Cause you know posting a youtube with "solid build that plays nice" doesn't sell as much as Clear 10 screens with one button.... "Ill just leave off it's because of an bug exploit that is shut down now and you can't do it." But you still end up in a cycle of this just as the nature of how YOUTUBE pays content creators. They have to sit around and figure some build out that isn't just a remake of their other videos so they will go find something stupid to do with a skill no one has played with, then magically it's the new best thing evar... So no they don't support a few meta builds, what they do however is refuse to take someone who spent 3 weekends grinding the ex for a special chest piece that only drops in a super difficult or rare way, and then hit update and make their time worth zero... Also I feel for SSF players, because of one factor..... POE1 has div cards.... POE2 doesn't have them yet, if at all but if not they will have to figure something similar out. This matters a huge amount in SSF. As in POE1 you can basically target farm most uniques and other items. It's a grind but it's doable. Here you just screwed at the moment. Part of me knew this would be a huge bad feeling for SSF and almsot wish they didn't release it cause of this exact problem.... But no they never support just a few meta builds. YOUTUBE makes people think there are only a few, but if you dig a bit deeper there are lots of viable builds, that do just well. AND we have almost just 25% of what will be POE2 when it launches, so to have 40 or so pretty OP viable builds at 25% of what will be POE2 is a good start. Just don't get sucked into all the "new to POE2" Youtubers that are just copying and pasting cause they can't figure out how to make a build in POE2 cause it's not easy to make them super OP if you don't know what you are doing, and meh builds don't make views happen. |

yeah anyone claiming cuz early access as an argument is coping. most of the skills are unusable cuz of either a design fail (as in the intended mechanics aren't working), some bug/ usability fail, or lastly and imo the smallest percentage of skills fall under this - numbers need buffed. ggg really thought we were gonna all have 5 button builds lol. that alone is the biggest miscalculation
