Is the Goal of GGG to Build a Game Supporting a few Meta Builds? If Not then They Failed.

I remember in an interview not too many months ago the producers claimed that POE2 would allow much more build diversity and viable ways to play the game. This was one of their founding goals according to them. What do we have RIGHT NOW in POE2. Not only are there something like only 5 meta builds that screen wipe but the community as a whole seems ok with it; which is rather astonishing to me.

I play SSF at all times. So 90% of builds out there on YouTube and elsewhere are useless to me even if I wanted to follow them which I do not. The build creator says, "All you have to do is get this unique which is really cheap (in exalts)." But without that unique, the build falls apart.

In SSF you may or may not drop it. You work with the uniques you get and craft the rest of your gear. You have to pick your own path through the passive tree because you cant depend on "godly ring of the screen wipe" to drop.

You would think that would be celebrated, but not. Instead you have to listen to the parade of people who farmed exalts and bought a build created by another person turn their nose up at you as if you were some peasant. Its almost amusing to be ridiculed by someone who bought a build conceived of and planned by someone else.

To GGG, if your interviews weren't just marketing and PR you missed. There are a handful of "viable" (read screen clearing one button, boss single shotting) builds in this game. The count of them makes POE1 look 10k percent more diverse. POE2 is less diverse and its endgame is TUNED for those screen wipe builds. Without those you die every map. If you truly believe in enabling a multitude of builds, you have A LOT of nerfs, hard nerfs, to do. Then you will have to retune the endgame to not send 9000 enemies a second at us in endgame.

As for me ... you beat T15 in trade league? So what? A 6 year old child could do that. You beat t15 and the pinnacle boss as an SSF character? Ok now I am impressed.

P.S. And this is one reason that Kripparian is the best POE player in history.

Did they really say that? From the outset the game seems designed with the complete opposite intention. There is no way they thought what they've been doing so far promotes build diversity...

MF, mana cost scaling, and damage scaling works in such a way that there is literally only a couple ways to solve all the problems any particular build can have in PoE2. Everything is so extremely locked down that you have almost no options and so the couple options that do work right now are spammed into every build.

They did, indeed, say it.

They didn't, in fact, do it.

+1 this game is the opposite of diverse. Mana cost alone bricks like 95% of the games flexibility along with Spirit.
PoE 1 is the best. PoE 2 is something.

Sums it up pretty well. Right from the start you are extremely limited on all choices.

and this post explicitly assumes current meta screensplosions as intended game play. is it? I don't assume that but i'm little confused myself due to the presence of breach and ritual.

Devs said blasting is intentional endgame cause it's how they think players feel powerful. SMH.

Completely their right to do so as well lol. Their Fate will most likely be like PoE1 then...lol.

"PoE1 Clone Has No Future!" ;) | EA 0.2 | Trade is EZ mode. ;) | Path of Trading ;) | "TLDR: -1 Devs ohhh" (Lol.) | "I've played a lot of videogames. It's my primary recreational activity. Best games ever: Elden Ring and Diablo 4." ~Elon Musk, 2023 | "Dawg", "IQ 48" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ | [Removed by Support]
Clearing screen = Good (power fantasy)
One-shotting bosses = Bad (devs work on it)
This is the kind of "build" that people are doing. Why bother having the game at all? Just put a big "i win" button on a skill.

Missing some context to that. They said they want players to eventually get to the blasting phase as its a part of player progression. Not immediately start doing it as soon as they hit maps.
