Dear GGG: You NEED to watch this video! I cannot emphasize this enough! WATCH THIS!
" He is saying a lot of good arguments and it doesn't matter at all who is saying them, doesn't make them any different. |

It might be a false memory of a D2, but I remember a mod that gave enemies high resistance to one element at max difficulty. This forced build diversity. You had to have a main element and a backup element in case you ran into a super resistant boss pack. Even, sometimes, having to flee if your build wasn't cut out for that type of boss. It also forced you to prioritize targets based on their damage and their resistances, so the unique mix of enemies that spawned had to be dealt with differently between runs.
Every build couldn't be a spark sorc, or they would have to reroll the campaign and try to get lucky. Part of the POE2 problem is that the gems and cast on X outscale the enemies resistances and health, which is actually good, because the enemies do so much damage that you have to kill them before they get half a chance at killing you. unfortunately, this makes the mix of enemies irrelevant because, as stated in the video, everything dies before it gets a chance to act, and this is the only viable way to play. All we really wanted since D2 was to make unique viable builds with just about any skill, and GGG can definitely do that if they just wake up.
Im at minute 6 of the video and i might change my Opinion later and of course i change this post then.
But his example of how the endgame looks is Polcirkeln and Herald of ice and that is sth that is very highly suspected to be nerfed cause Herald Ice activating Herald so a skill activating itself is sth GGG often nerfed. He says that teh gameplay he chose to show is what the developers want, that is a missleading statement. What they were talking int he interview is a different in pace. Maps feel very different from Campaign. More mobs, faster pace etc. Not chain reactions of herald of ice. Afterwards he talks about you not feeling powerful and yeah i agree. Its all the same. Then Map Sustain. I had some issues with that too, but once i learned a bit more of how to to sustain it went away even when i die 3 times in a row. On some maps i get 6-7 Tier 15 Maps. Others give me 1 or 2. So dying isnt that problematic. But yes Dying in POE 2 is to punishing. Its punishing in multiple ways. He also talks about not understanding certain aspects liek Anoint or what Delirium is. And im in the same boat i didnt really play Poe 1 and i was confused and i still am, but i do think thats gonna get fixed in the missing acts. We are still missing 3 more acts. And they explained Rituals in act 1 so i assume we see delirium explained too id say. Yeah game needs a lot more explanation for certain things. He mentions rarity, Quantity etc and yeah for people who never palyed POE 1 endgame that probably does make sense and it took me also a long time to figure that out. Now coems his big statement where he says that people do not love obliterating maps and then to next map etc. because the Devs said people love that. And yes some people dont liek that, other do like that. Im a person who palyed Black desert and warframe and Fortnite Save teh World for quiet a long time and i like obliterating maps after maps and farming continously and oblöiterating hords of monsters. And i dont liek Games like Dark Souls. Not because its hard. Because i dont like that all mobs respawn after death. But i see why people dont liek that and there is something missing in POE 2 cant really put my finger on it atm. Addressing his Points: Campaign got easier - cant really say anything about that i didnt paly this much through campaign, but making it easier might not be the best option. They do have to fix some Boss design tho. countering some bosses basically onyl requires you to roll behind him. Thats the Counter. That is shit. And they fixed some Hitbox issues afaik. Poe1 proves that the Endgame is unappealing, 60-70% stop after 1 month of a new season - i do think thats fairly normal for games with forced resets. You see that in every other game with that mechanic. Only the core Playerbase will keep playing and farming and finding the best rolls, the best equipment, the best build. I understand the criticism of this. If you manage to get more players hooked on the endgame its gonna be better. What you cna do for that is debatable. (sidenote: Diablo 4 has a similar chart to poe 1 seasonal resets) He proceeds to compare offline games to onlien games. Thats just nonsense. You cant do that. Every Online service game that has things liek season or new releases will see a large increase in Player numbers in that time. That will dip down over time. Thats how it has always been. From WoW expansions to Warframe to Black Desert etc. you get the point. I quote Shinshin hes talking about POE1 "This game does not have lasting appeal." That is factually wrong. Players come back with every new season. And over time the playerbase just grew and didnt go down. The Numbers went up with every new content release or every reset. They didnt go down. His proof that rerunning the campaign is not boring is that poe number drop after 1 month. Getting through the campaign does not take 1 month it takes a couple days which means. That many Players do paly a lot of endgame content in POE 1. What he says is just incorrect. I stop watching now he didnt think things through he made crucial mistake his. Some of his arguments are just wrong. And his comparisons are nonsense. Got to min 37 and nothing of value came from it. Last edited by Alzucard#2422 on Jan 20, 2025, 3:02:32 AM

" They were also talking that people will always obliterate screens of mobs in the endgame. Last edited by Suchka_777#4336 on Jan 20, 2025, 2:08:42 AM

" thats honestly such a big disappointment, this game will just end up a worse version of poe1
" I meant that his example wasnt good. |

Here's an example of some truly RIVETING gameplay. Truly solving the 1 button build issues by turning them into 0 button build !!! EXACTLY as intended. RIGHT? ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh... how intriguing... it's almost as if it's the complete opposite.... "Sigh"

" I don't think it's misleading. The devs just said they want the pace for getting to screen nuking to take longer. They did say they want that to be the late-game though. " While the comparisons aren't live service games (elden ring DOES have online though) the fact that PoE has terrible retention despite having so much content, regardless of updates, is in itself very bad. No one plays standard and the fact that updates NEED to reset everyone every single patch in order to get people to play is not ideal. " The biggest issue most people have with this is that PoE2 can have BOTH via content and juicing options, but the game only gravitates towards the screen nuking option with nothing else coming close. The video really hammers this home towards the end how damn bad it is. " The players came back for updates yes, but those updates failed to retain anyone for long periods of time. If GGG updated the game slower they wouldn't get any long term profits due to horrific retention numbers. The shinshin guy DID state that GGG is amazing at making updates that bring people back. His point was that the designs GGG said were "good" for the endgame had no notable impact on if people actually played the game more, meaning their endgame designs achieved nothing. " I think he was referring to the game pacing more than the actual campaign, but I see your point. " Shame you didn't watch the full thing. You stopped right before the undebatably problematic parts that he covers. Basically the devolution of endgame balance. Last edited by LVSviral#3689 on Jan 20, 2025, 3:42:27 AM

" It's funny how the game devs didn't realize what was the issue with skill variety. The issue was never "we only have one or two 6-links". It was that the game forces people into a very specific playstyle, otherwise other "mechanics" like limited portals simply gatekeep you from progressing into the actual endgame of PoE, which is pinnacle content. EXP loss is debatable at this point because there's no real need to be above lvl 90 in the game's current state. In fact, you can probably kill any pinnacle boss below lvl 80, all you need is knowledge about the fight (and IMO that's a very positive thing, the current issue is getting to learn the fights) I also never quite understood why GGG makes their own lives so much harder. Just give everyone easy 6-links and balance out the game around that fact. Same for gear: why bloat the game with full-RNG-crafting and unidentified drops only to force yourself to balance another set of weights and numbers that will dictate each skill's power? By the way, I see absolutely no issue with any playstyle. The real issue arises when any playstyle is the only viable alternative in practice. The fact that PoE's only viable one is braindead 1-button-mashing is just the rotten cherry on top of the already rotten base Last edited by _rt_#4636 on Jan 20, 2025, 6:22:05 AM
