Remove trade and let the healing begin.
" There's a problem with SSF not matching exactly what YOU specifically want, sure. But it exists the way it does for a reason too. :) SSF was made a an official version of a self imposed challenge players were already doing to make the game HARDER - NOT easier. So the core of your request is directly antagonistic the the intention of SSF in the first place. ;) |

" I'm skeptical. These posts always book form to I want more for less investment. Which by definition devalues it. I genuinely prefer the economy based game of a solo game with self dropped lot. I know it may be hard for others to understand that a self dropped item doesn't give me any more or different dopamine than a crafted or traded one. I love that the economy is a separate axis I can engage in the game with. There's a reason I have over 5k hours in PoE and less that a few hundred in pretty much any other game, and that reason is crafting (RIP), and the economy. |

Have you ever played Diablo 2? The main currency are runes for casuals and they have any even more disrupted site that's used for trading. That will get you banned using it here..
You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. |

" Harder doesn't=more time invested. You fundamentally misunderstand difficulty as a concept. You can still achieve equal power to a softcore character in SSF, it just requires... Fuckloads more Time. Not overcoming challenge, not skill checks.. Time. This isn't "hard" it just takes longer. You needing to raw farm currency to solo craft bis gear doesn't induce more "challenge" it just takes longer. You map at the same rate, you kill bosses at the same rate, you just can't trade to get items faster. When you hit a roadblock in SSF, you dont say to yourself- "Time to go back to the drawing board and find a new strategy or learn to play better or etc etc" you say "Time to farm more currency until I can craft better items." This isn't challenging, its just you spending more time doing the thing your already doing. Last edited by thaboss7272#0696 on Jan 15, 2025, 3:52:51 PM

I think that LE did a decent job allowing people to select the Trader's Guild or the Circle of Fortune. Would be nice if POE2 could implement something similar, with SSF essentially being Circle of Fortune, allowing for more impactful drops, and Standard being Trader's Guild, and characters are locked into each league at the start, and can't migrate, share stash, etc. It would also be nice, I think to have an in-game trade center. Post your equipment and price, and if someone is interested, then they buy it outright.
I understand that the Devs have mentioned "trading friction," but my personal thought is that adding friction that significantly removes me from the game environment adds little value (I understand that people may disagree, and fair enough) That would appeal to the broadest group, both those who enjoy trade, and those who don't. Just my thoughts. |

" Congratulations! You just described grinding, a pretty core concept in a game designed by Grinding Gear Games. :P I think you've chosen an exclusionary view of the word harder. The things you mentioned are certainly one way a thing can be harder, and so can a thing taking much longer to do. PoE isn't designed to be a particularly hard game by your definition and I don't get the impression they want it to be. Spending more time to get stronger is the core of ARPGs and PoE. If you'd like, I could say "SSF is a mode for people choosing to make the game MORE TIME-CONSUMING" - Might be more accurate, but I don't think anyone doesn't actually understand what I meant. :) |

" I see there's no "10% increased reading skills" gear available on PoE2's trade system... " I have fun playing the game - but mostly act 1. After that, the dopamine hits from dropping anything even remotely useful (not valuable, cus I don't trade) are so few and far between they may not exist at all. 4 hours of playing the game in a day that yielded 1 exalt and 1 regal that gave me an ilvl 40 item with T1 health and a useless 2nd affix. Crafting is just as bad as - if not worse than - drop rates. |

" Right, but thats not what you said. You said SSF is harder. Not more grindy. " ---------------- " If you think a game increases in how hard it is or how challenging due to having to invest more time in an identical action with the same outcome shared by its counter-part, we can agree that its more grindy but not that it's harder. You aren't mentally straining yourself to come up with new ways to "defeat" something, or to help yourself overcome an obstacle you are struggling with here you are just logging more hours in the game doing the exact same thing you would in softcore for the same result. SSF would not become inherently easier or less challenging from a gameplay perspective if you were able to get more currency in less time, it just means that you don't have to spend every waking hour of your life on the game doing the exact same thing you would in softcore for less reward because you can't trade. This is not a difference of challenge its a difference of time. --The gameplay loop remains unchanged, you just won't have white hair or be a skeleton by the end of it from how long it takes you to craft something.-- " Shrug. Not really what were talking about here but alright. The entire concept behind PoE2 being slow and methodical and more boss focused would disagree with this. Dodge roll, boss focus, One portal only maps, slower character movement speed, extreme model collision, etc etc. " Right, but it's not inherently more hard or challenging to do this it just means you logging more hours snoozing through maps for currency in SSF. Not hard, nothing new, just time consuming. I can log as many hours as I want in SSF or softcore, this doesn't make it harder for me as the player to hit the login button. If SSF gave monsters new affixes or altered game mechanics, or changed how the game worked? Different story. " It would be entirely more accurate than what you said, and what you implied by specifically saying: " Shrug. If I'm being pedantic, it is what it is.
