Remove trade and let the healing begin.
POE does not need trading. This long outdated format gives way to hackers, market manipulation, and issues with progression that spill over into solo self found.
I understand that trading is likely a driver for GGG income, but it shows a complete disregard for the majority of players that purchase and support this franchise. The current state of trading sees players paying other players for items they can't otherwise find on their own. Drop rates are terrible in this game, to the point that if you can't play POE2 for 40hrs a week you're unlikely to find anything useful. Instead, you're forced to hand over all of your currency to someone else... because they have the time and resources to make/find that item that is so critical to your success. Personally, I don't like relying on other players to find the things I need. I don't want to alt-tab every time I find something that might help someone else, in the hopes that I can sell it. I don't want to hand over orbs to some nameless gamer in Russia so that I can progress my character. Power and progression should be rewarded just by playing the game. Something has been lost from the days of Diablo 2, which (I believe) is where this whole trading b.s. comes from. Back then, you made a room with a title like "selling Shako"... someone would join, and offer a trade. The difference here is that players didn't have currency... no orbs. No market values. Just usable gear. This is where it all breaks down with POE trade... we have an economy now, and it's totally unstable. The developers have zero control, and the 1% / bots / hackers run amok. To the GGG developers: I hope this reaches you. Please take some time to think about this broken system, and consider making a better space for those of us that don't want to rely on it. This could be as simple as better drop rates in SSF, or changing how loot works... (let me mod maps to have higher chances at dropping certain item types)... etc. There are so many ways things could be better. Hell, let the traders trade... I don't care. But at least make the world a little better for the rest of us. Last bumped on Jan 16, 2025, 6:50:40 PM

PoE is a big P2P network kind of like old music pirating systems: everyone runs around and gets random drops. These are useless to whoever dropped them, but might be useful to someone, so they announce it. In return, someone, somewhere, will get a random drop that is useful to them.
This way, everyone contributes a little to everyone's progression. | |
Authors of these posts should be banned at this point, it's too much.. Just play SSF.

Two simple solutions:
- Implement an Auction House (like in WoW) - Adjust drop rates and introduce a crafting system similar to Last Epoch Problem solved. |

" You missed the point entirely, and I think you should be banned for existing. He clearly stated that SSF falls short because it plays by the same rules as softcore.. AKA You NEED to trade to succeed OR spend 100000's of hours playing.. "Gee guys can't wait to spend 40 hours a week for that single annulment orb so I can fail a single craft in SSF! Maybe by the time im 75 years old in real life I will have a fully complete rare!" In poe1, you could deal with SSF because we had deterministic crafting and ways to guarantee good currency drops in multiple ways. PoE 2 is barebones as fuck in this regard. " SSF is cucked because of trading. Drops need to be adjusted to compete. |

I would quit the second they removed trade. Not sorry. They designed the game around trade. Full stop. If you want a game not designed around trade, they are out there. This is equivalent imo to asking GGG to turn PoE into a farming simulator.

" I think that there should be two environments: 1. Trade-oriented characters where drops are pre-nerfed assuming trade is available. 2. Group Find [SSF?] where gear drops are buffed enough so that the characters don't generally need to trade in order to progress per-se. As long as 1 & 2 above can NEVER mix then the two groups of characters can never cross-contaminate each other. Hopefully everyone is happy. Summary: Without a buff to SSF / Group Find loot I don't think that "play SSF if you don't want to trade" is really a good recommendation. |

Nevermind, re-read the OP.

The entire game is negatively impacted by Trade/Economy. The entire game is balanced around it, and not player enjoyment.
That's always been my issue with PoE. It's aimed at forcing an economy to happen, and they continually balance in ways that pad player gametime. Not enjoyment. People spend more money when they enjoy something too. Not too sure why they think the only way to run the company is making a game aimed at the 5% of people that stay and interact with the economy. My guess is they're getting something out of all the bots and RMT's too. Probably even running the sites. Easy way to get extra cash. |
