even though PoE 2 has nice things like graphical updates, overall PoE 1 lovers don't like PoE 2.

Yet the current endgame direction is pretty much headed to POE1 zoomers in order to satisfy POE1 veteran and content creator

You think Blizzard would shut down WoW because they made another game. No not ever.
PoE 1, 12 years of profits and success.
PoE 2, EA that has no proven history to retain players league per league.

Absolutely Blizzard would shutdown WoW if they made a WoW 2.0. But they aren't brave enough to attempt that. Comparison between POE 1 & 2 is a bit disingenuous. Once the early access is polished the players will be there just as they were for POE 1.

To believe the most uncertain element of the game is certain without evidence, is unhealthy.

The developers can risk it and hold on to stupidity or they get wise and pivot. When so much money is on the table, the latter is much likely.

There is a much larger picture to be seen here than thinking the devs are holding onto stupidity. And POE 2 is being made into that larger picture.

"Falling off"

200k online.

Ok

And what is that bigger picture?

The game has many interesting pieces and people are playing with them, but because it is not a solid game, I don't believe in the long term success. By being not solid I mean fundamental design flaw "for whom this game is?", which devs don't seem to be intending to solve.

GGG is simply unaware of consumer demand, the game is falling off a cliff and they cannot fathom not everyone seeing it the same way as a 10k hour playtime d2 player.

The interview was the final nail, completely clueless about the game issues and unwillingness to change and take drastic measures in a time of development when it is accepted to do so. The game will become niche and once again lose against the perceived worse competitor.

The really depressing thing? GGG has NO IDEA what made D2 popular! They keep going the opposite direction or just the wrong way. Worse, they don't listen to when ACTUAL D2 players point out their mistakes, thinking that they're obviously smarter.

Ok

From nearly 500k? Within the FIRST WEEK!

That should scare GGG, but because of their inability to understand that big numbers don't actually mean good, they thing that keeping 200k after losing over HALF is somehow excellent.

And when it gets to PoE numbers (sub-7k) within a year, they'll be confused as to where they all went.

The funny thing is POE2 made me want to play D2R. AU$26 on PS5. It's a classic for a reason.
