See you guys literally the exact minute they add new classes and skills to the game >_>
same poe 2 is really poop
Me and my wife are already invested, we both got the 100$ (me the 160$) support packs as soon as we finished Act 1, and now I don't know what the hell to do. Go back to D2R and keep playing D2 for another fucking decade? I'll wait for a couple major content patches before I decide what to do.

I'm someone that played D2 since I was a frigging kid, still remember the enthusiasm I had going back from school just to sit down and farm the hell out of it, the only arpg that managed to do this to a degree is POE2, only to find out later that it's basically just POE1 in disguise, what a fucking disappointment. I thought I had enough disappointment with D3 then D4, but now POE2 as well? Drama aside, it really sucks, and seeing how they don't plan on changing the philosophy.. well.
I don't understand how people who didn't like poe1 would approach this game with anything other than trepidation, it's by the same team using the same engine, it's effectively a fork of poe1 code

To a large degree GGG weren't responsible for the hype train, I mean they're not going to turn it down but it does seem that some people are blaming GGG for the dearth of content in games they are not responsible for

I've been following POE2 for some time, they kept saying how it's going to be its own thing and a different game altogether, but it turns out the endgame is just POE1 after all. My mistake is buying a support pack so early, and it is my mistake alone. Can't help but feel disappointed by GGG for not actually doing what they said.

You dont even know what the term sunk-cost fallacy means, but use it every time.

Sunk-cost fallacy means, that people make irrational decisions, once they have paid for something. It applies for investments like stocks, relationships etc. Things, where you expect a profit at the end. Example: People tend to keep stocks, even when the stock value already dropped by 90%, believing it will rise again. Or relationsships, when people stay in a relationship, even though its bad since 20 years. They can't let go, because they've "invested" so much in the relationship and still think, it will get better.

This theory doesn't apply for something like a game. You don't gain any profit if you keep playing the game and you can't lose anything if you quit the game early.

I think sunk cost fallacy does apply to some games, I've had to catch myself doing it, but it's with gambling type games like FIFA and I imagine diablo immortal has it in spades. That feeling of "I have half a good team, I spent $100 on it, that $100 is wasted unless I spend another $100 and hope I get the other half of the good team"

I think you're right that it doesn't apply to PoE though, beyond the first $30 there's no benefit to spending money on top of what you've already spent, and "I have to play the game because I spent money on it" is not a sunk cost

Sunk cost fallacy is about caring about the already spent time/money/effort on a thing as a rationale to not change that thing to something new. It absolutely applies to games and has nothing to do with a profit at the end. Dude is flat out wrong.
get gud,

come back in 6 weeks after 500 bugfixes + balancing patches + new class
dont cry, just chill, touch grass.

see ya later.

Personally I mostly share your disappointment about GGG unable deliver their promises, but I dont think that I spent money in vain, as for me it was a very fun run almost till the middle of endgame... Even when I realized that I have no gear and no skills.

I think there would've been waaaay less angry or disappointed people if GGG had someone at least semi competent working with community and explaining things. Like talking to people. CPU crashes, account stealing and direction they want to grow. And not... This. Youtube video instead of patch notes.

Rn it just feels like semi open beta. It really IS one. And we're somehow paying for it )

This thread is absolutely pathetic. It's filled with crybabies vying for GGG's attention.

Everyone would like their litte pet peeve to be fixed in the next hour, but it can't happen.

And let's be honest here, some of the little entitled queens who think their opinion is the only valid one (like OP), are definitively not helping the devs come up with balanced and fun solutions for as many people as possible.

Having an opinion is fine, even a shity one, but when you start acting like only you matters, that's when your opinion becomes nearly meaningless.

TLDR : changes take time, EA gives GGG massive data to see how people act IN THE GAME and not only what some forum warriors (pr streamers) are saying.

What I don't really understand is people being so naive.

How can you defend GGG on the premise of the game being in EA? This is not their first IP, they had a decade worth of testing between interactions, abilities, players feedback...etc through PoE1.

The game is a massive success and will contiune to be so but I personally think they lost a step, either because of empty promises or the fact stated above. I honestly can't decide where to put them; are they indie developers, triple A or something in between.
