It's 2025, and XP Penalties on Death Still Exist?

Another topic about this? Absolutely! I want this game to thrive, but it’s losing players because GGG is stuck in the past.

This is a great opportunity to attract players from competing games. If you insist on keeping XP penalties, make it optional or limit the loss to the XP gained in the current map. Simple and effective!

I quit both POE1 and POE2 because of this. I really want to come back to POE2.

Please GGG, do not listen to those who ask you to remove the experience penalty. Don't make this game any worse than it already is.

xp penalty is the reason why this game remains competitive for so long and ensures player retention for several weeks.

You lose experience if you die.
You grind for hours to buy better equipment to not die again and level up. And thanks to your extra level, you get an extra skill point which makes you even stronger, and which will allow you to grind even more to buy even better equipment to level up, etc...

without xp penalty, you no longer need to buy better equipment.
All you have to do is launch a bunch of maps and farm them like a brainless person without even looking at your screen. Even if your build sucks, you'll still end up levelling up to level 100...

Thanks to the penalty, you're rewarded if you have a reliable, solid enough build, and if your playing style allows you to avoid death.
99.99% of players know the XP penalty is legacy BS and the only ones in favor of it are a tiny vocal minority.

Yes they do, and they will always do, if you dont like the mechanic then why start the game to begin with, this has always been in POE 1 and will be in POE 2

Its odd because this game has broken records and unless 300k of the 500k playing the game dont want it - and i have seen 3posts on forum who dont like it, whichc suggest the vast majority accept it as part of game then this isnt the game for you - and there is no shame in admitting that the game isnt any good for you, or that you arent any good for the game...

Mapping shouldnt kill you, in all my death about 10% are in maps, the rest are in story, and hell i play warrior in maps and have died twice and im doing tier 18 bosses...

Yuou play a glass cannon ,expect to die... play sensible you dont die.. but dont expect to rush a map in 30secs then cry when you lose XP because you werent sensible or careful enough.
not liking the exp penalty is exactly the point of it

a penalty should always be something you really dont like otherwise its meaningless most of the time

the good thing about the exp penalty is,it cant brick your charr it only stops the exp progress
neither gear nor engame content is affected by it

Allow me to enlighten you what is the main role of this XP penalty.

Currently, one of my characters is glass cannon soft-locked in early 90 levels, because of this penalty. It has extreme clear speed, movement speed, full magic find.

I die few times per hour. This is the one thing that is blocking me from 100. I earn a lot of XP. Rare, magic, pack size mods. Delirium and/or breech on maps.

When I die, I load the next map and rush in. I am fine with staying just over 90 for the rest of the league. The last several points in the tree will be good, but wont decide anything.

I have another char that is pushing for 100. The playstyle I pick for it, is completely different, with much slower clear, but more reliable and heavy investment in defenses.

This what you ask for, will never happen.

It is not "legacy".

It is currently the last wall of defense that prevents reaching 100 by throwing your body over and over again against mobs.

(And even now it is doing very poor job at it.)

It's gonna have to if they hope for this game to ever get a wider playerbase. Nobody wants exp loss in this game.
