Pick a direction, and keep going in that direction. The atlas works just like delve, the further you are, the more rewarding the nodes are.

I forgot about that theory, I might try that out as well. I'll stop using the T15 on towers and see if I still find them at about the same rate since I'm already pretty far out.

I tried both method of pick a direction and keep going to that direction, and the corpse thingy on the tower. I tested it with 4 of my friends for over 2-3 hours, and all of us found multiple citadels using both method. The most noteworthy thing with the corpse method that we found, is that the corpse does not point into a citadel, it only point into a tower in which either have another clue on which tower that is near a citadel, or a tower that near a citadel.

Corpse method? I haven't heard of this one, could you explain?

even as SSF one could just run tier 1 waystones and blast 20-30 maps an hour and find a new citadel in a few hours. . .it is what I do.

Wow, and you find that to be fun and engaging gameplay? Blasting 60-90 T1 maps with a character ready to take on Pinnacle encounters, just to actually find said encounter?

If that is the most efficient method, then that sounds like a terrible flaw in the game to me.

on my ssf character yes. . . you do know the game is not balanced around ssf right?

you can buy all 3 fragments for roughly a 180-190 ex off the exchange, that is maybe 2 hours of tier 15 at most.

When you get into the top of the tower, the area that you click on the thingy to activate the tower, you will find corpses scatter around. One or more of these corpses will have a distinct object near its head. The direction of the corpse that has that special distinct object is the clue on the direction of where the next tower that will have another clue on the corpse.

which is exactly the problem, the game is PoE 2 and yet still designed just the same like PoE 1 without any improvements that PoE 1 has had.

I was unaware that there is a Monk, Sorceress, and Mercenary in Poe1. . .
I was unaware that there is wasd movement, active block, and dodge roll in Poe1
I was unaware that there is a way to socket and uses spells on a UI page and not on gear in Poe1

thank you for letting me know

So, I find my first citadel after what feels like 3000 hours in the atlas. I've been in the atlas since the 3rd day of EA. So, I put a white T15 into the copper citadel. It's the dreadnought, and I fight and kill Jamanra taking little to no dmg during the whole fight. Then upon him dying I get killed by an untelegraphed and unexpected on death effect. One tapped. I'm not the tankiest char out there, but 3.1k ES on invoker Monk w/15K evasion and mitigation w/ protect me from harm; windancer and ghostshrouds. Am I going to have to play for another 250 hours to see another citadel to get the key I should have gotten this time? This is completely ridicuous. Please review your endgame GGG, as it stands I'm so mad I may not log back in again

I have few citadels available.

If you want to un tilt a bit, we can go there and I will let you keep the key free of charge.

100 exalts per hour?
Like you actually drop the exalts? Not "other stuff" that you later sell?

First off, OOF, that sucks, sorry to read that.

Second, sounds like you missed your evasion roll, which unfortunately happens. You could have 99% evasion, that's still a 1% chance to get hit, and if the boss rolls it, they hit you. ES doesn't mitigate damage so much as just act as a 2nd health pool (with some differences between Life and ES). If the boss did physical damage and you had 0 Armour, AND Evasion gets overcome, you're gonna' have a bad day.

I don't know what damage type the on-death effect hit you with, but whatever it was you probably had little or no mitigation against.

TL;DR -> We go again.
