We need Real Crafting
+1 OP. Crafting blows and finding actual good items on the ground is a once a month occurrence. The game is basically just a currency farming simulator where Divines are the only exciting drop. Feels bad.

" At least PoE1's RNG has less RNG than PoE2 esp. early on. I'd happily have a full powered [max tier] PoE1 essence. Not only are you guaranteed a specific type of mod BUT you also get a know high-tier of that mod. If you start with a fractured base in PoE1 that's less RNG still. Crafting bench is pretty deterministic .. you know exactly what you're getting. Harvest "change X resistance to Y resistance" is under your control. Throw in vendor recipes and a lot of other PoE1 stuff and the early game crafting is reasonably deterministic ... and all but guarantees a floor on player power. " You're wasting your currency. It's really only feasible to trade, and I hate it. |

" I'm aware of that. I just went to Craft of Exile 2. To get something that MIGHT (?) be a weapon upgrade with current crafting I'd need 6 THOUSAND bases & Alcs -- and I'm only looking for 3 mods and I've even got alternate mods I'd be OK with if they hit. Sure smart uses of Chaos, Omens, etc. may help but it's not worth the time, effort, or currency. Trade is the only place I bother looking for upgrades. With hundreds of thousands of users grinding out gear someone is apt to get lucky and have something I'd like for MUCH LESS than the crafting costs. |

I'm new to poe but out of the 3 aRPGs I play this game has the most disappointing gear, loot and crafting I have experienced. My merc, the act 1 boss dropped a weapon that I used until the end game, I never got anything better.
There's obviously a lot I don't understand yet about this game but surely poe1 is not like this? |

" The loot has always been the worst part of this game. They justify it by saying that trading adds to the game interactions. So they intentionally make the loot drops bad. This is compounded by the fact that the orb/crafting system is basically gambling. And players will spend hundreds of hours gathering currency, just to dice roll on an item. PoE 1 was entirely designed to hook people with the gambling aspect. I REALLY hope they don't try to do it with PoE 2. Crafting is nothing but a negative to this game in it's current state imo. Especially since it's not optional. It's essential to either trade/craft to progress in PoE. You're forced to interact with the systems. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3663256 Last edited by Akedomo#3573 on Dec 30, 2024, 5:34:45 PM

" yeah, it kind of is tbh. this pos tis a +1. id argue its a better system still than say d4 and a game like d3 doesnt even have a system. its better than those but its not good. poe1 is a system where you can farm orbs for 100s of hours, go into a map, find 1 base item. take it to your stash and then spend every orb you have gathered over 100s of hours on this 1 base by clicking 50,000 times over hours, get absolutely nothing, end up with a useless white base item like you started with and then you wish you had never turned on your pc that day and just want to quit the game. thats poe1 crafting, its horrible. poe2 is actually almost there oddly enough, i know it feels like absolute shit right now but its a lot closer than people think imo. the mod pool is messed up, they need to trim out all these shit mods they added which have messed up anyones ability to make a proper item. we need more alchs, a lot more essences, more chaos orbs and less of the trans/aug/regal/exalt spam because that method is just not compatible with this new philosophy of having most rare items you wear have maybe 3 good stats and 3 bad ones. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :) Last edited by Snorkle_uk#0761 on Dec 30, 2024, 5:50:48 PM

" poe1 has the best item system in the history of arpg games, and the only real problem with the item drops in poe1 is that there was far too many of them. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

+1
They pretty much removed crafting and went straight to gambling. My stash tabs are just full of junk to reroll, the new crafting. At least it will sell stash tabs... wait... (conspiracy forming)... PoE 1 crafting was fine. It incentivized playing other modes. Now they are just forced upon you in the atlas. Last edited by Ner0suM#7473 on Dec 30, 2024, 6:06:32 PM

" I kinda feel offended by your post. You are calling me a complete idiot. I don't think I am. Yes, Poe 1 crafting system is convoluted and difficult to understand and use, but it's nowhere near not worthy or bad if you know what you are doing. This league it's actually amazing. I crafted a lot of stuff this league and it made me a lot of currency and a lot of what I am wearing on my char is crafted by me. It is 100 times better than what is in poe 2 even thou I will admit it's far, very far from perfect. In Poe 2 on the other hand there is no crafting, its just rng, crafting assumes a targeted process in my opinion, there is almost none currently in poe 2 that I could reasonably use while getting to level i think 75 now. It's pure gamba with ridiculous problems like no rerolling currency so you need to haul not one base white item but thousands. I love crafting and I don't craft in poe 2 at all besides regaling few blues with double nice stats and augmenting blues with perfect 1 stat that I need. Almost all of my gear is actually bought from shops, i didn't gamba anything and drops are so bad I don't know if I wear even one item that dropped for me besides a pretty thrash unique belt. It's so bad I don't even play the game anymore, it's absolutely unrewarding and unfun for me. |
