An Option to One Portal per map/death we can all live with

TLDR: Lose 1/2 of your portals on Death or Scale portal quantity w/ map tiers
For me, this[one portal] is Way too punishing for a game we all play for the fun of it. Sure there are some who stream it and comment on it for a living but for most of us, it is supposed to be above all things, Fun. Spending currency on a map, preparing a path to a region with good mods or layouts, setting up precursors, lining up to a new boss and etc. only to die after killing a pack or two and barely seeing the inside of the map- just isn't fun. On top of that, you lose XP [sometimes much more than you could have gained by clearing the map] and any currency/loot you couldn't grab before dying. It is at least a triple punishment. I think a good option that preserves the 'spirit' of one-portal per map or "if you die you lose the map" would be to either scale it with map tiers (White maps have 6 portals, yellow maps- 3 or 4, red maps only [1]one or two.) OR you lose half (or a given quantity) of your remaining portals if you die in the map. (Especially if you die early before seeing any of the map, getting any XP/loot from the map, Or die to a new boss you haven't learned.. it just feels bad losing the whole map without a chance to learn the mechanics or experience and explore the area.) The 6 portal system works perfectly fine for a reason, no need for the devs to over-design the game when they had something that works in PoE 1. Don't try to fix something that isn't broken, just bring back 6 portals in softcore, the people who want only 1 attempt can choose to play so anyways or they can just play hardcore.
They just need to let us use all 6 of those portals, its that simple. |

Nobody asked for a 1 portal or a 3 portal map system. There’s no system other than 6 portals that any of us should live with.

" If you want "challenge" go play hc ssf. The standard Softcore mode shouldn't have mechanics that so blatantly waste your time. This is why those other gamemodes exist, for people who think the game is too "easy". No reason why the rest of the 95% playerbase needs to suffer just because a few people wanting the game to be a certain way. Other people don't have to play the game exactly the way you do. The vast majority hates 1 portal per map, and it needs to be changed. ARPGs by nature are casual and easy, if you're looking for a challenging game this isn't even the right genre to be trying lol |

6 portals, 6 deaths is a good concept from POE1.
It should be the same in POE2. The reasons for 6 portals, 6 deaths is to account for glitches which could cause character deaths. Things like network lag and connection issues. It's not just about "The cHalleNgE" |

Choosing from 1 and 6 ports I'll always take 1 portal option. Reason?
Single portal force me to play with more balanced build. If something is too hard just lower the difficulty. If you are dying to often maybe the content you do is too high. Farm T10 instead of T14 for few days/weeks, get better gear and then try T14. Maybe you should just transmute + aug your maps and don't take those fat juicing explicit nodes on atlas passive tree that makes your maps even harder. Also you don't need run all maps. Skip/reroll bad map mods. Like f.e. Im CI and im rerolling all burning ground maps. No one is standing above you and forcing you to climb to the highest maps/content. The sun won't go out if you play a little on lower difficulty :) |
