the author of the post is totally right the people who say he is wrong you are only unemployed I suppose...In the world of entrepreneurship When you launch a product whether it's Christmas or whatever (of elsewhere not all their players celebrate Christmas) you must follow your product to turn the store you do not go on vacation 15 days there is no escape to this otherwise he would have simply released their ea after the vacation...Who opens a restaurant for 2 weeks then closes it 2 weeks later to go on vacation?? Only someone who is in a hurry to do a one shot and take people's money this kind of business does not exist or very little and what makes it doesn't last long...I took the example of a restaurant but it works with all kinds of businesses the first month especially if our product has a certain quality and a lot of defects it On the contrary, we must double down and above all not a vacation and worthy of a scam...Okay guys we took their money we're going to burn them in the sun.

Except this completely ignores the fact that the product launch was a SUCCESS and remains a SUCCESS. Your restaurant example makes no sense because the second you let go of a restaurant, it can instantly fail. It operates on an entirely different business model and timetable. That just isn't the case here. Furthermore, they didn't "abandon" the game. It's functioning perfectly. The more appropriate analogy would be the OWNER of the restaurant setting it up, hiring the staff, seeing that everything is running smoothly, and THEN taking a 2 week vacation. Guess what? That's how professional restauranteurs run restaurants all across the world. They open them, do the heavy lifting up front, and then if its stable they move on. All those TV chefs that own multiple restaurants....they don't pay any attention to them because they continue to run.

They went on vacation BECAUSE 1) the product was a success, 2) It is stable (see D4 as an example of an UNSTABLE release), 3) The doomsaying is just a straight up lie (numbers, stats, and facts prove otherwise), 4) Games operate on different timetables.

Major updates in games don't happen over the span of days. They happen over the span of weeks or months. TINY bugfixes happen in the day/week span of time.

Your personal opinion on the product is not equivalent to the success of the product. Hate Toyota Priuses all you want....doesn't make them any less successful of a car model nor do they owe YOU any changes because YOU don't like the car (just bought a new prius so its on my mind....).
This is the OPs biggest ignorance and also his extreme entitlement...he equates HIS experience and HIS thoughts with this insane idea that everyone else feels the same way: despite the evidence he himself pointed to in the OP (streamers saying the exact opposite), and the sale numbers and current concurrent players. Every single point being made is extrapolated from thin air with nothing to back it up, all wrapped up in accusatory, rude tone and framing under an exceptionally tone-deaf and pathetic title

Haha, who are these people that are making it seem like people want to chain the computer engineers to the mines? Is it somekind of "holier then thou"-concept?

I have two friends that are on a ski-trip, and on news years eve they will eat a restaurant. Imagine if someone yelled on them for "enslaving" the workers at the hotell during new years eve... what..?

"How dare you force the ski-lift operator to work without breaks, in the cold dark and away from his poor loving family?!"

"Oh, and the poor bartender, how his loving wife must cry this evening, horrible spoiled customers!"

"Oh, why wont anyone think about how the massive international company is feeling, the humanity of it all!"

Let us say your on a vocation during christmas, can you voice any complaints about it to the company that sold you the experience? What if the air-condition doesnt work? Would you demand that a poor peasant would be enslaved and forced to fix it during the holidays? What if the lights are flickering on and off? Would you take some poor woman away from her crying children and force her to fix it?

I mean.. what is going on here guys? Ofcourse you can complain about the release date of the product and lack of support for a online service game without being a evil tyrant..?

If d4 was released on lets say december 22, would all critique be void? Could you possible say "mm, hey, releasing the product at this date is not good, activision blizzard, I dont want to sound like a evil tyrant, but that means that there would be a massive sh1tstorm because alot of bugs wont be fixed for 30+ days.."

Or would I be a entitled brat trying to enslave and suppress the employed people over at activision blizzard?

Im starting to belive that blizzard should release all their games as EA products on december 23. It is really smart, alot of people would start defending human rights & activision blizzard.

Atleast this thread was fun to read, thank you guys.

You are making the wrong comparison. What if the lift operator was ALREADY ON VACATION, a vacation they earned by already putting in massive amounts of overtime, and you, as a random skier, spent two weeks calling his house demanding he return to work, calling him lazy and his choice to take a vacation "absurd" despite the fact that the ski lift is working as intended? That would certainly make you the asshole.

Nice way to raise the bar... for sure would have another lift operator to cover the one in vacation... [Removed by Support]

What it all boils down to is that they released a game before the holidays to maximize profit then disappeared.

I don't really agree with this solely because I know a significant number of people playing this EA got it for free. Myself included. I forget how much you had to spend on POE 1 before you qualified. Now, don't get me wrong, they absolutely made a ton of money on this EA drop. Plenty of hype brought in fresh players. But, realistically, while this was probably a nice cash injection for some bonuses right before the holidays, I don't think the amount they made was all that much more or less than what they normally make on a big league start, when tons of players flood back in to buy whatever league supporter packs are new.

On top of that, we did get two patches within two weeks of launch. More than most AAA studios can accomplish in months.

The American's are pretty easy to pick out in this thread...

I mean it's not universal, but it is interesting to look at the trend in opinions versus time of day the message was posted (e.g. afternoon in the US vs afternoon in EU vs afternoon in NZ/AU).

While i dont agree with a lot of things here. It is odd that its framed this way.
Most companies take 24th-25th off and are back to work the 26th.

I don't know if I've ever worked for a company that allowed you to take vacation 2 weeks within a major holiday either. Maybe we're just slave drivers in America.

That being said a few weeks off for them, while it may suck for us, is not the end of the world.
The problem is that a LOT of feedback is accrued over their vacation and how likely is it that they are just going to NOT read it at all because they can't be bothered to read a thousand threads. All the feedback given right now may be given in vain because of the vacation!!!

"How dare you go on winter holidays, you selfish game developers, don't you know we are paying customers! Do you think anyone else in the world goes on vacation when people have given them money???"

This reads like a dystopian satire but it's actually real. Crazy work.

Do you lack reading comprehension? You sound like a sycophant that supports the devs no matter what.

He's saying if you're planning on taking holidays off (which is completely reasonable), don't release your Early Access game right before the holidays. The delay easily could have been deferred to January 6th and this problem would have been avoided.
