Melee issues: River Hags and more

+1
It’s incredibly clunky.
Doing a Slam, hanging in the air for seconds while eating all enemy attacks.
You spend 80% of your time running away like a bitch, luring the monster pack into a vulnerable angle.
The classic tankiness of huge health pool + huge leech gutted so you can’t really facetank anything.
Being pushed around should simply be resisted against with Stun Threshold. This stat is already in the game exactly to allow melee to withstand close combat without it being super annoying. Now all the mobs push you around and it’s super annoying.

Honestly, still, this whole "methodical" combat style could be kinda fun, if there was a point to it. I remember initial D3 release with the new 4th difficulty (was it Inferno?) where mobs were so heavily overtuned, everybody (every class) had to kite and whittle them down endlessly. It was a different experience, but at least you could get sick loot. (We ignore the keg breaking strategy.)

In PoE2 though there are plenty (ranged) builds that play just like PoE1. This is point no.1. It’s hard for many to not feel envious / left behind, in comparison to those builds.

But even if you make the game your own and just play and enjoy your own style: You just don’t progress in the end-game. Campaign is fine, you can make it, and there are some interesting boss fights to develop strategies for, and all.
End-game, you get no XP, no loot, it’s over.
The River Hags with melee, if there are 3 of them or more, you are going to be more time rolling than attacking. Is a really bad mechanic for melee, for a ranged is really easy.

There are some people that don't get it. They are just a bit slow I guess.
I think back to chris wilson saying something to the effect of we would rather make changes for the other 90% of the players.

They had a long time to fix melee, this is the melee vision. its fun in the campaign in a vacuum if you never see any other build in the game. Once you realize you will never compete with the economy you realize its a waste of time. If you want to play ssf and never interact with another person then maybe its alright.

Its possible that once we get axes we will have some more speed tools and can use maces on weapon swap to 1 shot really strong monsters and be fast with axes/sword. There is some hope for us.
Died to it once in the campaign since I didn’t know what they did

Never had any problems with them after that

Don’t stand in them kill the casters

Melee EQ/rolling slam warrior here

same here...Im playing monk. When I see them...they are the first thing i freaking kill lol
Interesting stat from today: Out of the top 1000 characters "Warriors" of all varieties are by far and away the lowest class. The next nearest class has roughly 3.4 TIMES MORE characters in the top 1000 than Warrior.

Wouldn't necessarily be surprised if many of the warriors on the board are "non-traditional" Warriors as opposed to the meathead slammer variety.

still writes an essay

Try playing melee instead of screen-edge meta builds some sweaty streamer told you to do.

Ffs... you guys are really impatient or need to play harder games than PoE2 ASAP if water hags are hard for you

I'm playing a Perfect Strike Titan and I never die to them. I did stay inside the buble once to see what the fuss was all about, but that was it. I faced a Rare one with several minions so... like 5 hags?

I takes time yes but it is not dangerous.

This is one thing that is more dangerous as melee but every archetype has its downsides and you are complaining about one of the HEALTHIER DOWNSIDES IN THE GAME.

There are 10+ other mechanics that are ACTUALLY unfair for melee. Hags are a bit annoying but they are just that.

This is a feedback that is just "noise" covering up all the actually broken things in the game for melee.

People just like to complain about the tiniest thing that inconveniences them I guess.

This here is 100% a case of git gud.

Every single complaint a person could have about the game can boil down to git gud depending on the person. You could be the most patient masochistic individual and think that every mob should take 10 minutes to kill and do 1 map a day and tell everyone else they're trash. Wouldn't make it an objective truth for all.

The problem as indicated here is not that they're impossible to do, but if you are a ranged character you may not even see the mob or know the mechanic exists in the first place for quite a while. Then the question is why is there such a desparity in punishing mechanics.
