PoE 1 was intentionally left alive, exactly so PoE 2 can be different. So what is the problem?
It's called Path of Exile 2, not Path of Exile: Hardcore.

" It's quite hard at this point, especially that things are heavily mixed in the threads, and the forum is going on an insane rate. Funny thing is I kind of agree, threads should be merged into whine thread, shill thread, L2P thread, QoL issues etc. I can't do that though so made this one. Have to ask though, why is it dumb crap thread. I'm not sending anyone to play PoE 1, I'm just curious what is the reason for the massive attempt to change 2 when 1 is alive. It's not as obvious for me as it seems to be for others that it will not be supported, so answer wasn't as obvious as well. Last edited by Rabarbar_Lichy#7553 on Dec 23, 2024, 12:04:48 AM

" On the other hand, for smb like me who is going to play both, having MTX work in both is a huge pull. Also is it confirmed that it's going to be 1 set? And even if the yearly ones are so, the league ones will be different. |

" The issue isn't the lack of proper crafting. PoE 1's loot system was designed in such a way, that it promoted trading. And crafting. At the start it was good. But as the leagues went on. It became mandatory to craft gear or to trade to progress. The issue is that. They're trying to put the same loot system into PoE 2. And you're now realizing how bad it is, without the crutch fix of currency to craft gear. You notice how bland the loot in the game is, because it is bland. It's boring and uninspired. Just ask for them to redo loot. It's what the game needs. We don't need another PoE game with the same crappy loot in it. Lootsplosions on bosses feels good. And it would feel especially good on the bosses in these games. We don't need crafting mate. " I am a vet. Probably playing longer than you have. Started the game in 2011. You? I also argue against 'solved'. Creating a problem, and then solving it with a new system, isn't exactly solving it. It's just.. Extra steps. More tedium. Get to the root of the issue. Which is how bland and boring the loot is. How bad the RNG is. How you're forced to craft to progress. " yup, this is the problem. If you don't craft or trade. You're heavily punished. This shouldn't be the case. Stuck on a boss? Farm another boss for a bit and see if you can get some upgrades. I don't think you realize this, because this is a shared viewpoint between most veterans. But.. The solution isn't more crafting. It's a rework of the loot system. And they can do it. It's PoE 2. This is a problem GGG created in PoE 1. They lowered good loot drops. They added TONS of items. The items are very very heavy on RNG. Meaning you need to play tons in order to get something good. They fixed it with crafting, and had the expectation that most players would trade. But the issue still remains. Loot is boring and uninspired in this game. Largely the only time anyone is excited something drops is when it's a unique or... currency. And that's an issue for regular players. Veteran's seem to be unable to put themselves into an average players shoe. Let me tell you. I have quite a few average gamer friends who have taken one look at this game and it's 'crafting' system, and said 'That's stupid'. They take one look at the way trading is done in this game, and well. My one friend just refunded his PoE 2 EA because of it. They have no interest in learning how to craft. The trade system is a fking mess. Both of these are negatives in the eyes of a new player. Many people that have quit PoE over the years, do so because of things like this. Every time I load up the game, I get to about level 80. And largely give up now, because I spend so much time worrying about gear, just so I can spam some more maps. It's unfun. I stand around in town. Searching a website, instead of fucking playing. These systems don't make the game better. They make it better for you, and how you've learnt how to play. But for the average player? They'd rather items just drop off of epic bosses. Last edited by Akedomo#3573 on Dec 23, 2024, 12:20:48 AM

This isn't path of exile 2.
It's shitty diablo 2 remake. Nobody asked for this. You want to be bored to tears with easy ass gameplay and less choices, less complexity, less everything? Poe2 is the game for you Want 3 years of attack windup time to dodge an attack? PoE2 is the game for you Fucking slow shit Last edited by sonik11#6442 on Dec 23, 2024, 12:19:06 AM

Consider the amount of time its been since the last poe1 league start. You're pretty much stuck playing this even if you don't like it.

" +1, it really feels like a step backwards especially in terms of player choice, less complexity, and less build diveristy (yes only half the skill gems are aviable...ect, The base of the skill gems system will lead to less build variety) |

What's funny about the situation is you can kinda tell who joined later on or is just so used to the many flawed aspects of PoE they don't realize PoE2 is much like PoE1 started out.
Keep in mind this is the community that downvote bombed GGG during Expedition just because they didn't like the changes they made. IMO they had no choice but to make a new game. The only thing that surprised me really is how poorly balanced skills are and how much fluff they put on the passive tree when they've already run that track in the past. I'm actually quite certain they have a lot of stuff already finished and they're just holding it for player retention. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

I think, in the long term, neither PoE1 or PoE2 can reach it's full potential while attention [and other resources] are split among the two games.
Sure in a perfect world I'm sure GGG could grow if BOTH PoE1 and PoE2 wildly exceeded popularity estimates and both were viable. I'm not convinced that I see that though. I think, inevitably, one game will be significantly more popular and thus get the lions-share (sp?) of $, attention, future development, etc. while the other game withers and never fulfills whatever potential it has. To further confound the matter is I'm sure the people that poured a lot of money into developing PoE2 want to be DARNED SURE that it's NOT PoE2 that [comparatively] fails even if that's at the expense of PoE1. As such it makes sense to make PoE2 the best overall game we can as I view it as likely [inevitable?] that it will be the more popular game. |

PoE2 campaign is great, especially acts 1 to 3, as long as the buff some of the builds that struggle really badly. Cruel starts getting easy, you can roll mobs/bosses without much issue depending on your build. End game is nearly a copy of PoE1, enemies, bosses, content, all roughly the same.
I'm hoping that acts 4 to 6 keep the PoE2 style going, but they also fix end game to resemble the acts more. Remove on death effects, remove some mods that don't really fit PoE2 (like hasted), cut back the number of mobs especially in stuff like breach and ritual, have a boss each map, boost crafting omen drop rates so more people get them, remove magic find, etc. Let us engage with small groups of mobs like we do in the acts, but not instant screen clear them. I also really hope they decide to actually put in the instant-buyout or similar auction house for gear. I can't do trade anymore, I refuse. The problem is you hit a wall and it really feels like your only choice is to trade to get past it. Sure if you're a streamer and can play the game 6+ hours a day you might be able to brute force past it like for SSF players, but most people aren't. Being stuck at the same power level for more then a week kills the urge to play when you make no progress, or any progress makes you weaker. At this point I'm stuck. I spent over 2 hours upgrading 3 pieces of gear a few days ago via trade, and it made me quit. I'm now playing other stuff. I want to play the game, not sit in hideout whispering 100's of players trying to get something. The game is good, but end game isn't, so wasting time does not appeal to me at all. I'd rather just go play something else where I'll have fun the whole time I'm playing. |
