Allow same support gem more than once, FOR SEPERATE SKILL Gems
I understand the reasonings why this is the case, and now I'm not saying the same support gem on the same skill multiple times. But allowing that same support gem on different skills.
The reasoning I have is for variability, a little counter intuitive at first, but there are cool combinations of support gems I would like to try for example, however because of the fact it set this way. I would have to constantly swap gems out which is kind of tedious. There's also the fact that in a way it forces you down a linear path. Oh you have a poison support, now your locked in for any poison buffs on that specific skill which is kind of lame. Maybe it could be some kind of special currency or another use for gold where you unlock the ability to use a support gem more than once at the end game. This could add some end game loop. Anyway, like I said I don't mind us not having 20 projectiles on one skill, obviously. But at least let us give us a little leeway. Last bumped on Dec 21, 2024, 10:44:22 PM

I don't think all gems should be usable once per skill, as I think that would lead to too much use of certain ones. But I do think the support gem situation needs improving a bit.
A couple of basic, simple things, like faster casting, longer duration, should be usable on more than one skill. Say a higher level version, that doesn't stack with its lower level self. That way, we have two or maybe even three of a couple of core, basic things. |

You guys are missing the fact that in PoE2 there are more interacting mechanics and it's basically going to be impossible to balance gems. In PoE1 it's already near impossible to balance them, in 2 if you allow more than one gem you'll just end up having half of the gems completely useless. I'd rather have the game like this where you have the dynamic of figuring out what gems go where, instead of simply socketing in the same gems everywhere which is extra not fun.

There's a balance between the two. I don't want all the gems to be usable everywhere, as then, yes, most are garbage. But right now, there's a simple problem, and that's that most are garbage. I look at the list of available stuff, and they are tied to specific mechanics. But that makes most of them useless for most skills.
Which is why I'm saying we need some more basic, general use ones. |
