"Zoom Mode" and "Normal Mode" is perhaps the solution.
" A minority opinion. PoE is the most longlasting live service game, with a forever growing playerbase. PoE2 will have a forever shrinking playerbase on the other hand if it insists on being Ruthless type trash, plus with really dumbed down mechanics so that D4 players can figure the game out. |

" Which game mode gets to be the "Main/Real" game mode, and thus the only one that gets any focus, attention, or development? Because if all you lot get the Boomer Zoomer Blaster Master game mode you want where all loot drops are increased by 300%, they add seven hundred no-cooldown instant teleport movement skills and increase default movement speed by 500%, and crank all the player damage numbers by a factor of a thousand? One of those game modes - AND ONLY ONE - gets to be the "real" Path of Exile 2. There's no such thing as "two equally valid and supported game modes." There never has been. Hardcore mode is a joke, SSF is a joke, Ruthless is a joke, and they always have been - the only "real" mode is softcore trade and it gets 100% of the development time and effort. No decisions are EVER made with any regard for these other modes. Spoilers: the game mode that hurls power at players with a catapult, cranks the scaling out past the Kuiper belt, while completely and utterly removing and erasing every last trace of the game Grinding Gear has been promising us for the last year and a half would be the "real" game mode. And the rest of us in your "methodical gameplay" camp would just quit, like most of us largely did in PoE1. So, no. There are two camps of players, yes. The Boomer Zoomer Blaster Master Must-Go-Faster camp has their game mode. It's called POE1. She/Her

poe 2 is not ruthless mode. Im dropping poe 1 to poe 2 for that methodical and synergies and more souls like bossing. Player base will not decrease as it will in poe 1 when they will chose to make ruthless a only one mode as poe 1 is not created intentionaly for it and has 0 deep in active gameplay. It's very boring game to play and just good to min-maxing and utylizing your brain.
poe 1 is to over-stimulating and i have very love-hate relation with it. They need to make decision and i wish it will be staying with poe 2 to be poe 2 and not copy of poe 1. for not being over-stimulated. POE 2 is tottally different game than poe 1 till.. we reach end-game where it's more of poe 1 than even poe 1. more zooming without any methodical combat. |

" If you think that a newly released beta version of the game will have the same depth and complexity as a game developed for over ten years, you can't be taken seriously. And if you think they won't expand it, you are just dumb. Forever growing? From 2019 to 2023, the game had no player base growth. It hit a cap on the maximum number of players enjoying it. Instead of living in your imaginary world, you must look at the data and facts. The latest growth is directly related to PoE 2 coming out. Two weeks after release, there are more PoE 2 players than there ever were for PoE 1. Accept that PoE 2 is not for you and return to PoE 1. |

" This is EXACTLY what some D4 players have been parroting since that game launched. They got exactly what they wanted and guess where that game is now. Dead. Who's the minority now? Last edited by rifraf-_-#9478 on Dec 20, 2024, 11:54:58 AM

The Zoom of PoE1 is a design flaw.
There are inherent problems that occur then the player starts to move to fast. Many potential mechanics and even auto attacks go out the window. You lose flexibility. You also lose features like terrain interaction or having to care about the enemy type you're hitting. PoE1 did not start out how it is now and frankly it's a worse game for it. You call it Ruthless. It's actually just how original PoE played. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

The zoom of PoE1 is a reward. Reward for those who managed to get their character to enough tankiness/dps to not die from random damage. That is the point of MAKING a build - remove most of weaknesses and utilize every advantage for smooth gameplay.
The same goal actually applies to poe2. Thats why okayish 35% ms boots cost an absurd amount of money. Thats why people try to get leap slam/stampede/flicker on their swaps. And its not like you simply put this together and start flying - you need to support them with working toon. Its not a core problem of PoE anyway - every arpg will end in players going as close to zoom as the game allows. But the more limitations you add - the less invested in developing anything the majority will be. Last edited by Querker#1809 on Dec 20, 2024, 12:16:29 PM

" No. |

There are a ton of builds that essentially one shot bosses right now. If they don't nerf them in the next month, then we know they are fine with it, but they might nerf it.

" Zoom is going to happen whether they like it or not. It is the nature of a game that is so heavily reliant on gear for character power and has a focus on freedom of builds. To stop it they would literally have to tear out parts that they consider core to the game. |
