I agree. One portal adds something to the game. I like feeling like shit when I die. Makes the feeling when you don't die that much better.

*claps*

10/10 Would read again.

As someone who plays mostly with casual friends, having 1 life per map is just depressing for everyone involved. Two of my friends already stopped playing because of that.

they wouldnt last anyways.

sometimes the game just isnt for you. Luckily theres plenty of games to play. I hope you enjoy them but don't ruin this one. Thanks
Step 1 is to self reflect.
+1 This current pseudo hardcore endgame is just overly punishing to play and clearly not enjoyable for alot of people. Enforced soft hardcore and locking people into ascendancy choices are the worst offenders of these anti fun design choices with the trials being right up there with them.

If this isn't your personal experiance go and play the game you love so much or go and touch grass. It's ridiculous to sit on a feedback forum and argue with peoples feedback... the entire point of this forum existing.

The barebones of the game are 10/10 amazing, but this is a garbage decision that adds nothing but frustration. Let’s hope they change it, and honestly I see people hitting the bargaining stages and saying oh, maybe 2 or 4 portals!!

Why bargain on a terrible game decision? I actually agree with bosses resetting and having to do the whole fight in one go if it’s a boss fight. But iirc one of the devs said something about, “we want people to learn from your death!”

The only thing people learn is how to put the game down.

Here’s to everyone having a fun early access period, and remember, this is THE time to give feedback like this. They have done an amazing job of listening to the weakpoints of the game and making adjustments.
dont understand all the crying , there's 6 portail since the game came out , if its about dying and losing map then just stop speedrunning map like its d4 and you might stop dying or check your build.

if you want to never die and be unkillable your on the wrong game and its on you

I think that Diablo 4 a bad metaphor here. Diablo 3 was fun and zoomy, Diablo 4 was intentionally slowed down to pretend "going back to the roots to Diablo 2" and guess what - the game is dying out and people are going back to Diablo 3. Some hardcore nostalgists are happy that the franchise is going back to it's roots, the back just accepts the game sucks hard and move to another game.

Anyway OP, +1, totally agree, one portal per map is overtuned way to frustrate players.

Stop playing glass cannons and make actually well rounded builds. If the 1-portal restriction is a consistent issue for you then you are running content that you shouldn't be running and/or your build has insufficient defenses.

This semi-hardcore approach is great because it tells people to actually create builds accordingly instead of braindead 6-portal-defense zergs. You just didn't get the memo. Take the hint instead of complaining about it.

What GGG really needs to figure out is the correct penalty for it.

The people saying the XP penalty is enough already are talking nonsense. Tell me, how does it work out in PoE1? People either are content with the level they currently are and just bounce between 0 and 5% all the time. Or they just straight up buy XP boost services, cap out and then don't care anymore either.

Adapt. Figure out your character or wait for someone else to figure it out and copy their build. Or log in on PoE1 to play the 10k EHP builds, the game is right there.

But no. You zoomer-players are all busy trying to make flicker work again instead.

Hate to tell you this, but the zooming builds do build defenses. The issue is that one shot will happen off screen with no tell on what the hell happened.

No. People will not adapt, nor will they try to make some kind of boring zdps tanky character. Because that's not fun. They will instead simply quit and GGG will eventually have to change this when they lose too many players lol
Evidently you haven't noticed but PoE2 is not supposed to fill the exact same niche that PoE1 does. That would be a stupid decision by GGG. Why would they make two games for the same people instead of catering to two crowds?

Doomers prophesize already that PoE1 would be abandoned (which it won't be because it has a striving and still growing community) but simultaneously there are these constant demands that PoE2 should be exactly like PoE1, just better and shinier. Which would most definitely lead to PoE1 being abandoned, because what would be the point of it then?

The sooner you stop coping and start accepting, the better. Play a different game for now and come back to the next PoE1 league to play all the zoom you want.
