It's a "Fantasy" ARPG but Where's the "Fantasy" of our Choice?

I honestly couldn't care less what gender my character is or how it looks in PoE and I find it weird that some people do.

The "R" in ARPG is the least relevant aspect of that game, it's about making a build (not a character), killing mobs and bosses and collect loot. Even the story is practically identical, no matter what class you chose.

If you want fantasy, go play Baldur's Gate 3 or something like that.

You're asking for the design and testing of new skills to take twice as long, for the recording of new voice lines to take twice as long, etc. I realize you may not understand how big a deal this would be. But it's a huge commitment for the game to make, forever into the future.

Do you really want every seasonal league to take more resources to get out the door? Maybe GGG will decide to do it. But there are so many more important things to do first.
Evasion-only melee character that can kill Ubers with cheap gear (SSF Rise of the Abyssal), no armor, no energy shield, 62k eHP:

One time i bought a spider-man game and got mad that spider-man was a male. I wanted to play as a female spider-man, how come they didn't give me that option?

no i DO realize what i m asking for stop making assumptions. this is a goddamn feedback forum. we give feed back GGG decides whether we get it or not. many people PREFER to have options, but if we dont get its fine, we wont quit the game just because of it.

a lot of people always hit me with the "its gonna take more resources" argument which actually i do understand. but then i give 2 easy counter arguments.

if resources was a big deal, why not make it so that players choose a class then chose a character model for their playthru? they've already made the models for all the classes, let us choose which ones to use. DONE!

the npcs will refer to us as exiles anyway, and ggg can SAVE on resources by not having to address each exile by character class.

then theres another suggestion i have, just make TWO models. male and female. not 1 model per class. you select the class then select your gender.

so instead of having to deal with 8 models that we have in path 2, ggg only needs to do 2.

isnt that REAL savings of resources?

most people's next counter argument would be class identity. this isnt d4. class identity is only visible from the character "head" or default model. after that anyone wheres anything they like. it doesnt help that ggg sells mtx so any talk of class identity is kinda moot.

There's even more of a future commitment to that, because it permanently closes off story arcs. The character models are real in-world people -- warrior son of blacksmith for example. You could double that, so the blacksmith has a daughter also. But for the son of the blacksmith to be a witch instead -- but only sometimes -- could put the writers in a box.

Again, it's not impossible. Maybe GGG will decide it's worth it. But your insistence that it's easy is coming from a lack of design experience.

Moreso a lack of care of anything other than their personal desires.

They don't care if it takes more time effort or whatever, they want to be a boy sorcerer. They don't care if the character has a story attached to it, because they don't want to read said story.

i actually agree with you, you have a good point, but still, we started this discussion from the point of "resources".

actually poe1 does that. scion was born as a noble. duelist was a erm... duelist. templar became disgraced. they all had a backstory but it doesnt matter in the end. all of them ate ggg's resources. if you look back at poe1, many npcs had interesting and unique voiced dialogue based on the character class the player chose.

but after that, we're all exiles. ggg did not do any more class specific voicelines in all their expansions nor their temp leagues.

in fact, i actually prefer that we dont have a backstory so we can have our own headcannon to imagine and roleplay. but in anycase we are diverting alot from the main point of "resources". all my suggestions actually save more resource and bring value to the players NOW rather than a possibility of a little bit of story arc that would become irrelevant later.

I highly, highly, advise not playing warrior - it already sucked before the armor explosion nerf, now its complete dogshit.
