Allow us to replace (overwrite) runes.

I agree. We are already very limited on crafting. My brother put a shitty rune in a unique item because he didnt take the time to read carefully. I am for game knowledge being a good thing but this just seems silly tbh.
Make it a gold sink to have some guy destroy the rune for scaling costs each time you use it on the same piece of armor
I hope GGG sees threads like these, as they have to be swimming on feedback (a good portion not constructive).

The ideas here are really good, very similar to what I was thinking: Give us the ability to "wipe an item clean", specifically runes (no changes to affixes like POE1 scouring as it seems GGG wants to move away from this).

Charge us gold and transmutes/augments based on item level, then destroy the rune, remove the rune slot, and remove all the quality. Like others said, this gives more value to the lesser currencies by creating another sink for transmutes/augments, whetsones, scraps, etchers, and artificers, along with gold.

Something like gold price 100x item level, augments 20% of item level, done at a new interface of the salvage bench, or bring the NPC that awarded the salvage bench to the hideout. You want to change that 12% fire resist to cold on that iLVL 70 helm? Cool, then pay 7000 gold, 14 augments, quality it back to 20% with a dozen(ish) scraps, use an artificer orb, then put that new rune in!

Feel free to add your feedback too!

Just saw the thread you made too. Although I think there are definitely more pressing issues for GGG to address I think this one is simple enough and such a no-brainer to get it pushed through asap. A gold sink dissolve rune thing on the bench, adding the function to Artificer Orbs or simply a prompt when you try to put a rune on top of a socketed rune would be just fine. I don't really mind which they choose.

Just wanna point out, giving it a gold cost and putting it as a salvage bench option would do a couple things:

-create a new gold sink to change out runes for a cost

-give us funny "I accidentally salvaged my gear instead of taking my rune out" posts.

I also had this thought but they would probably have to add a prompt before salvaging so I don't think it's a good idea as it's just another annoyance.

Fair, yeah.

Make a spot when you open the salvage bench you can drag an item into, and a "Dissolve rune" button under it?

I quite like that idea!

I would say no, but if that happens, should be ridiculously expensive.

Yes I agree to this, make it doable but expensive enough that it won't be worth doing on anything but good pieces.

90% of these forum threads are people asking for changes to protect them from their own incapability to read/think.

Like.. just read the tooltip?

Why?

+1, thanks

I just had to replace gear for resists, because I can't replace (overwrite) runes. Replacing the boot rune would solve my issue. Instead I spent maybe 30 (?) minutes trying to buy a replacement ring.
