Most of the discounts aren't particularly generous - the company isn't big enough to justify the hire of an economist. The amount of discount you can expect to receive for any particular item is proportionate to how patient you are in waiting for both permanent and daily discounts on said item.
My patience is a deep, deep wellspring. By this point I have what I want from the store (stash tab bundles) at a discount with which I was happy. You'll generally find that higher-priced items receive lower percentage discounts, and that they also go on sale less frequently than their cheaper cousins. All daily sales, and the point quantity of their discounts, are not random. If a sufficient number of people clamour for a particular item at a particular discount, it is liable to happen sooner rather than later... provided that discount is not too large, of course.
