Boots - Movement Speed Should Be Implicit Affix

"
I don't agree.

Lay out the pros and cons of finding a pair of really great tri-res boots, but with no MS VERSUS a single-res pair of boots with 20% MS. This type of decision is what the game is about, and how you end up really defining your character.

Isn't that a false choice when the game has bosses with 1 shot mechanics (even if your res capped) and the only way to avoid it is if you have sufficient move speed to make sure your in the safe area in time.

this here is the biggest crux of the issue: movespeed is non-negotiable in this game

Why not just give the players 30% increased movespeed across the board?

You realize this game is about RNG at its core right? About loot and chasing loot?

I cannot fathom how people have come to expect linear, consistent, significant gains in power as they progress through a loot based ARPG. When did this happen? Seasonal sets in D3? Deterministic crafting in PoE1? Where did we lose the idea that it's okay to not have a boring, linear, free ride to the most difficult content regardless of strategy, rng, or even skill or planning. The game shouldn't spoon feed you, like the rest of the genre does. No thank you.

Yes.

False:Blink, dash, heavy stun the attack, KIll them before the attack, get good

To improve itemization, every pair of boots should have movement speed as an implicit (as opposed to prefix). There are a lot of boots you can't use simply because they don't have movement speed. This change would make traversing the game better and a huge QOL improvement. The implicit affix could spawn with escalating tiers based on item rarity:

* 5-10% Movement Speed (Normal Boots)
* 10-15% Movement Speed (Magic Boots)
* 15-20% Movement Speed (Rare Boots)
* 20-30% Movement Speed (Unique Boots)

I disagree on how you're implementing things. I think the movement speed should be a direct function of the item level of the boots instead of the rarity.

Otherwise you're looking at getting 15=20% move speed at VERY early parts of the game instead of it being a more gradual progression.

I'd say start with L1 boot at 5% move speed and maybe L76 boots at 35% move speed [after which there are not additional move speed bonsues]

Note: I think it would be fine for Uniques to break the rules so if they give high move speed at Level 1 then good for whoever found the boots.
It sounds good but then why not just increase player move speed innately? If every pair of boots has 10% minimum... Why not just make players 10% faster?
This is unironically the best suggestion that's come out of this feedback forum.
An actual good suggestion.
Absolutely. Move speed is so important, you could have god rolls of everything else on boots, but with no move speed, they're vendor trash. Doesn't matter what class or build you are, it's 100% mandatory to have. Even in a loot based game, that's not fun or interesting, just tedious.
+1000 The devs probly wanna keep it a random roll though so whoever gets Temporalis has to try and and find the "perfect" boots (without) run speed lol.
