Jonathan Rogers Interview about POE1 playerbase

I'm one of the Die Hards from PoE 1. I love the game. It's beautiful graphics. Been waiting a long time to see something like this.

Sure there are some flaws but it will get fixed with time. I have quite a few hours played at this point but my Rarity Sorc is finding all kinds of valuable stuff. 3 Perfect jeweller's in 24 hours. Plus exalts like crazy.

I hit T9 map now and I already exalt them after alching them. Obviously thats cheaper than three exalts... White Waystones are a little tricky to get though. But only needing 8 to get to next level is nice. All they have to do is be equal or higher than Map requested for Atlas points.

Truly enjoying it. The one shots at the beginning were hilarious. I'm certain the more you play the less you will die per hour. If you know how to make a build work.

I'm level 79 or 80 with 2 ascendancies. I like how you don't really need them. Although the third will be nice when 40% of ele damage taken is recouped as ES, if I read it right. But chaos damage is the real issue for most, and thats not ele.
One sad Exile
I've seen the specific clip, and I've also tried using google to see when the hell Jonathan Rogers ever said they were developing a souls-like game. The one and only thing I'm aware of is that they wanted to counter zoomers.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of people in here are misinterpreting what was being implied.

If they simply made the Path of Exile 1 formula harder, there wouldn't be any issue. The issue is that they tried creating a souls-game using ARPG mechanics, when ARPG fans want to play an ARPG and not a souls-gamme.

I've played PoE1 for several leagues, but I also haven't played it for a few years now. Coming from both a new player and an old player point of view, none of the arguments so far addresses the actual concern at all.

ARPGs are about fast paced combat where you're melting mobs and having a challenge against bosses. They are not about slow, punishing combat designed to make your life miserable.

I have the highest level gems for my area, gear appropriate to my level, and pure damage supports. I'm still struggling on white trash, because they seem to be overtuned to the level of a boss. Rares, elites, mini-bosses and the act boss are even worse. Constant One Shot FMA is terrible game design.

For now, I'm dropping PoE2 and waiting for true ARPGs because this isn't an ARPG anymore. They changed genres completely instead of just making a new IP.

According to some posters here, they dumbed down the game, making it easier for new players. The way they presented information may be more streamlined, but combat is so brokenly designed that it's new player unfriendly in my case. So I have no idea what you guys are talking about or what their goal was. I'm struggling so badly for progression in PoE2 when at least I could make meaningful sub-progress in PoE1.
