Let me build what I want to build
If I want to build a character that survives 1 shot mechanics I should be able to do that. I should be able to build a super tanky no damage character if I want. Why do I have to Dodge Roll a mechanic when I should be able to stand there and get hit if I have that type of build.
I don't want to dodge roll. I want to stand there and eat every piece of damage coming my way. I'm not able to in this current iteration of the game. Not everyone is about glass canon zip around the map in a Toyota Prius type of player. Last bumped on Dec 14, 2024, 12:52:41 PM

" GGG right now - to hell with anyone who wants to play Sorc, they will play the one and only class we want! God forbid the class that was most appealing to me is Sorc and you just keep screwing it over |

Path of Exile gave us a big bucket of Legos to play with.
Path of Exile 2 gives us a few boxed Lego sets and says *if you don't follow the instructions to the letter, we'll take them away." |

+1 the dumbing down and gutting of systems and build diversity has been really disappointing. Everything from the passive tree, to the new gem system (besides the removal of links which was a good thing), and the removal of crafting for the most part has made poe 2 pretty boring and unfun.

Luckily it's early access and GGG seemed to be the opposite of Blizzard. So i'm sure they're in the process of making some major changes.
If not they know exactly which road the game will head down, the same road Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 did. Another thing that blows my mind is why are Flasks so simple now? They don't add + to armor during flask effect, remove bleed on flask effect, evasion, resistance all that cool (useful) stuff it did in PoE 1. Not sure i can agree here.
The idea of 1-shot mechanics in general is to elicit a response, right? If we have the ability to 'make a build that can survive 1-shot mechanics' in the method OP speaks of, then fights become a matter of holding down the button until the boss dies, because if the 1-shot is being regenerated/mitigated, then what is the other stuff going to do? Nothing. A level of interaction on content is what makes a game, a game, is it not? Asking for the tools to invalidate the gameplay because "it's fun to just win and not have to think about it" kinda turns it into less of a game and more of a visual novel. I think this is a bit of a miss, as much as it may not be popular to hear. |

+1. I really want the old gem system and drop-only gems back. I wouldn’t mind them bringing back coloring sockets either, but agree that getting rid of linking was a good move.
The progression chase doesn’t excite me like it did in POE 1. The slower pace is fine, the dodge roll is is (although I wish there weren’t one shot mechanics as a HC player), crafting is OK (not great but OK). I feel like they’ve gutted some core mechanics of what makes POE different than other ARPGs |

" I highly doubt this is GGG as a whole behind the scenes here. There seems to be a lot of gatekeeping going on with this game. It's like he wants the game to be so much different than Chris' that he's willing to do anything he can to make sure that happens, even if it's at the expense of QoL and enjoyment. And I don't say that in a negative tone, because it is a different vision for the franchise. But if they're going to continue down this route of forcing us to play the game the way they want it to be played, they need to remove the arpg tag from the game, because it's very quickly losing the RPG part of it, and becoming an AGGG; Action Grinding Gear Game.
