Trials are terrible
Wow, check this idea out from Reddit. I think this would be a perfect compromise!
https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExile2/comments/1hczzbn/sanctum_run_ends_to_trap_dealing_4800_honour_for/ Essentially, the idea is; Keep the honour system but tie it instead to the rewards, not to being able to ascend. E.G. 1. I lose all my honour but get to the end and kill the boss = I ascend but get no other rewards. 2. I kill the boss with 50% honour and get average number of rewards (as well as ascending of course) 3. I kill the boss with 100% honor and get lots of rewards. Whomever came up with the honor system should be fired. Or at the very least delegated back to intern to relearn the craft.
Dying on full HP in a mode designed to chip away without actually killing us is just BAD. |

Literally killed the boss at the chaos trials and game disconnected lol. That didn't count as a kill I guess.
What a terrible system to have to go all the way back now. Probably won't be playing this until they fix the disconnect issues. Please remove the ascendency points from these trials and do them another way or not make this required for the points. It's bad enough I have to do it on a slow as molasses melee warrior that misses half the time even when I have increases accuracy. I've learned my lesson I'm going to do range next time when the game releases. |

" You'd need to start with 100% Honour and be generous with regaining it. Althopugh personally, I'd say if you can get your Honour over 75% you get all the rewards. |

" I think that's the core problem here. (And Nathandark has a good take on it as well) I'll be bluntly honest but not in a mean way : For me this is a lazy recycling from PoE1 (compared to all the good work GGG did so far on PoE2). Coming from PoE1, the game design feels different, the intentions are clear (feels like the charges of the Roahs in act 1 of PoE1, but on the whole game) it's way more punishing but leveling, and having a good skill/gear setup will eventually get you through it. Understanding boss mechanics, having a sense of timing, etc, it's a slow pace game because you need the time to figure out things to overcome them. The trials on the other hand don't fit with the actual design and philosophy of PoE2, even if they were changed on a surface level. When we do those challenges in PoE 1 it's mostly in endgame when our defenses are set, our specific build is well rolled and optimized for those mechanics (not all classes are good to farm those). For example the whole point of making a build for the Sanctum (basis for the first trial for people who don't know PoE1) is to not get hit. A melee build will, by pure design, be handicapped in a system like that. The trial of Chaos is very RNG dependent, filled with devastating debuffs, and your defenses at this stage are between good and damn horrible. For example putting the elemental resistance debuff at the beginning of the game makes no sense. -15 ALL res, -10 Max res? In act 3, without having access to more defense mechanisms like in PoE1? Why is this option even here, at this stage? Those type of things shows that is more a copy paste/recycling from PoE1 rather than a well thought way to get the player to ascend at certain stages in the campaign. Even if the Lab in PoE1 was not fun for a lot of people, it was DESIGNED with the ascendency purpose in mind (at the recommended level). The trials in PoE2 are not. They were not designed for PoE2 and not for every class Ascendency to begin with. This is why they will not work properly unless they are changed at a high level first. | |
" Dude's over here bragging about low level trials. I think while a lot of people dislike it in the lower levels, the majority are infuriated by it in the later levels when trying to acquire the 6th+ ascendancies. |

" Wait till you get the your 3rd ascension you will be singing a different tune |

How'd he get his Honour that high? That seems a little fishy to me.

" +1. To be completely honest, I could come up with a better system than Honor that meets the same goal after being the happy recipient of an ice pick lobotomy... just sayin. Off the top of my head have hits give you a stacking debuff that reduces your MAX hp by 1 for each hit you take, but every kill removes a number of stacks based on the number of mods the mob has. |
