OK I give in, this is just not a game for ARPG fans

If your damage is low, you gotta figure out why. When the game has been out longer and there are more build guides it will be a lot easier.

I keep seeing this but there is no actual way to figure out why because...

Oh wait I just used all my skill gems on these skills and I can't kill shit. So I can't kill shit to get new skill gems to figure out why I can't kill shit.

Seriously you would think people that claim are capable of building complex PoE character builds could figure out something as basic as this.

If you can't kill shit then farm in a lower area. Good lord this release just shows how like 99% of PoE players can't function unless they are following someone else's build guide.

Lol it's not hard to get more damage. It's the RNG while crafting, but the currency and bases (for your own class) drop so little, so of course we'll have low damage.

It's quite simple, the game is not balanced only 1/4 of the skills are actually viable to use.

My witch does more damage with frost wall and commet than ball lightning/arc/spark even tho I have a +3 Lightning Skills staff with 70% inc lightning damage.

So keep telling me that it is an issue with build, it is 100% a balance issue of certain skills underperforming.

I could roll frost damage and steamroll through all content right now 100%.

Those underperforming skills will most likely do well later on in the game but forcing people to farm for hours on end to change their build because it sucks to get to late game is just horrible design for a game as slow and punishing as this.

This system worked in PoE 1 because it was relatively easy to get a toon back into the game.

You'll always have PoE 1 where you can press a button and explode a full screen of mobs with zero skill involved.

You need absolutely no skill in PoE 2 too, stop thinking that youre superior, im in PoE2 endgame, and the game is a slog, it´s an unrewarding pile of ass, you get out of maps with nothing to show, 0 relevant currency, 0 rares most of the time, the game is not hard, it just doesnt drop anything, does not respect your playtime, and besides the loot an arpg has barely anything else to offer, noone plays arpgs for the story, or for the skillful gameplay (wich is non existant still, im cleaning maps with 1 button just like PoE), since the first arpg´s the drive of these games was loot hunting, but here the loot runs away, for story and skillful gameplay you have infinitely better games on the market.
If the game doesnt get fast changes it will die before the next reset.

I'll tell u why it is low!! Because drop rates are utter dogshit. There is no way to craft ur gear, no way to drop ur gear. What is left? Hoping u get a 1 i 900000 decent rare item from a boss once every 10 hours? The currency drop should be increased by at least 500% !

That's a fair point. To not only have the drop commensurate with the difficulty, but to make it more relevant to the class. E.g. I received a unique crossbow drop. Unfortunately, I'm playing a witch. Since this is early in ea, I'm considering just giving it away to someone who can use it.

This game is not made for ARPG players, it is made for something else. There is no reason to keep playing unless you really like it because it will not get any better as you progress.

I disagree, but you are entitled to your view. To me it feels more like D2 in pacing. That one was much slower than D3 and D4. It has the same core gameloop as most ARPGs, kill stuff-> get loot and more/better skills -> kill bigger stuff-> get better loot and more better skills... etc.

I don't disagree that the combat tuning, loot drops, and skills need some work, but it's early in ea. I think that as development progresses a lot of those systems will become more refined until it's ready for full release, but it will take time. I think that comparing it to POE, which is a pretty mature game at this point, is a bit unfair.

Just my thought.
GGG went through all the hassle to make PoE2 more new player friendly, just to pander to the hardcore ARPG community? They could have saved themselves a ton of time and money because those people would likely love an extra hurdle, masochists. They wanted to make a ruthless game, slow, little loot, and punishing? They succeeded and the vision is exactly what a lot of us feared it would be, souls-like rather than exile-like.

PoE1 = Become a God and decimate your foes!
PoE2 = Fight Gods with this random branch! But don't worry, everytime you die we'll just reset the area so you never feel alone

Steam Charts from 12/9/2024...

POE2 - 578k peak - 498k 24hr peak - 284k current
POE1 - 228k peak - 12k 24hr peak - 7k current

Those of you struggling with POE2 or disliking it, I completely understand, but recognize that POE2 is the game more people want, not POE1. It's tiring to keep hearing POE1 players think they will "have to nerf everything", when in fact, POE2 has already surpassed POE1 pretty handedly in playerbase, and will probably stay that way forever.

Also, those of us who are loving this game are *not* slogging through bosses and barely making progress. Are we dying when learning a boss? Sure. But we're also treating this as a *new* game and learning the mechanics, and killing bosses quickly.

I was struggling with the count-boss on my Monk.... so I asked around, got some tips, and went from slogging for 3+ minutes to stay alive and get him to half health, to full on killing him in under 1 minute, just from better understanding Monk and boss mechanics (no new gear at all).

After playing two classes to 20, I started a new witch and warrior, and I had both of them around level 7 in 30 minutes each, and level 12 in two hours. Probably finish first act in ~4 hours each, and this was *not* some kind of crazy speedrun, or using hand-down gear. Just playing the mechanics now that I've learned them.

Anyone who desires to learn POE2 and how to dominate it, if you post specific questions, there are *tons* of people (more than the entire POE1 playerbase) happy to help you. If you don't care to do this, I understand, and POE1 is there for you.

Opening week numbers are terrible for saying how much people actually like the game enough to stick with it. Good media campaign, streamers and youtubers playing it and thus getting their audiences into it always pull in higher numbers.

Helldivers pulled great numbers early too and then fell off a cliff.

POE1 all time peak happened this year, meaning it grew throughout its life. This is the goal of all live service games and is asign of a game that is healthy and making the players happy.
