Now I understand the haters (even tho I don't agree with them)
I couldn’t understand the hate at first. To me, the game feels awesome.
But that changed when I realized one of the main complaints was the lack of phasing through enemies. Initially, I didn’t see why this was such a big issue I’ve never had trouble with being surrounded because I calculate my engagements, and honestly, that’s part of the fun for me. Then it clicked. It’s not about combat for them. They don’t want to engage; they want to skip the encounter entirely. Now it all makes sense. These players don’t actually like Path of Exile (be it one or two)... they never did. Let’s be honest: PoE is all about the combat. That’s the core of the gameplay. But these players go out of their way to avoid it: skipping encounters, using builds that wipe the screen without interacting with enemies. In other words, they don’t like playing the game itself. They only enjoy the sense of progression it gives them. But they hate the game, thats why the less they have to interact with the world, the better it is for them. 🙄
It's worth noting that +2 maps are a dangerous thing.
They can cause players to get out of their depth - playing maps that are too hard for the items they currently have. Herp Derp. |

No just incorrect. There are times where you just get swarmed from both sides in small areas, and it just hard to get out of. Right now, I dread going into small areas. Also isn't the point of slower gameplay not to have swarming mobs all the time?? Seems contradictive, no?

Nah, getting stuck in walls and being swarmed by respawns on top of you sucks lol

" Not sure how you got into that. Maybe watch what is around you and not just charge in like a raging bull? A bit of skill is needed here. Even on a monk I never got body blocked. |

Ah yes, the age-old skill comment. Since everyone likes to use that, I'll just respond with, I've played pretty much every soul like out there. So, I don't think "skill" is really the issue.
The issue is they give us no movement, with almost the same enemy movement from previously, and at times, almost the same amount of swarm. So, a slow dodge roll that doesn't have iframes, can't phase, isn't much. It's just bad game design. |

Yeah, there is zero room for nuance or balance. Either you slog through an infinite supply of white mobs that drop nothing and reward you with nothing for literal hours to get to a boss fight that lasts 5 minutes and still gives you nothing and you do it with a smile or... you don't even want to play the game.
Take is basically, "Wow, you don't like my cooking? You must just hate food" "You don't want to date me? Guess you're a lesbian" 0 IQ take | |
I mean every time you die all enemies respawn. So you try to run back to where you died to continue where you left off (like running to your blood stains in Dark Souls), but some areas are super narrow and you can only do so much with only a roll and no quicksliver flasks and the like.
Again this woudn't be a problem if dying didn't reset the instance... But it does and you can't be expected to clear the entire level again each time you die far from a checkpoint. It's not a huge problem in open ended levels, but in areas that are basically straight corridors with barely anly room to move in, it's very easy to get stuck when running past enemies and back to your place of death. Problem also is you don't have much portal control. Like in Diablo 2 you restart in town when you die so you can use a portal as a return point, like put it near the boss door, then backtrack and explore the rest of the map. Then if you die you respawn and you can take the portal back ... But with the checkpoint system you tend to active random checkpoints as you backtrack to check that one side of the map you didn't fully check, then if you die you're stuck near the start and you have to essentially clear the entire map or attempt a run and roll run to skip all enemies... Which doesn't always work as you end up aggro tons of groups of enemies that follow you around and get swarmed if you take a wrong turn or stop for a single second. " It's always funny to me when fanboys put up a giant strawman to knock down. Why do you need to invent things we don't like and reasons for why we don't like them when there are giant threads explaining what we don't like and why we don't like it? It's always "oh they're lazy, they want to 1 shot everything, they don't want to plan their build, they seek instant gratification, they have no attention span, they are just bad at the game, they can't be bothered to follow a guide, they don't know how to actually play the game because all they do is follow a guide, they hate being challenged because they can't accept failure" But I admit - you're the first to go as far as to say that I apparently secretly hate the game that I continue to spend money on. Good one.... |
