PoE 2 Is For Tourists

I jump in, just adding my layer... probably repeating stuff.

Loot
Yes, it's a problem... way too many hours farming without enough rewarding loot.
It impacts the crafting, the upgrading, the gold, the respect...
Could be fixed...

Gems management
It's not the worst for me. I just regret three things:
(Ironically, Gems are what I have looted the most)

1 - What's the idea behind allowing just one support gem?
2 - There's no way (???) to buy gems you have unlocked and missed. I'm thinking hard about issues like SRS.
3- No movement gem. I miss the dash... it could probably coexist with the new dodge.

Difficulties
It's way too hard, true... this could probably be fixed.

Speed
The game is slow. I feel this could be fixed too, especially in the endgame (not there yet).

Build
Casual players like me follow pre-made builds.
Here, you have to make your own and live with your mistakes.

Conclusion
My feelings are mixed. While some elements of the game have been made easier to reach new players, others are way too painful.

Is the game still in beta? Yes, so there is still hope :)
I can still see the glass half full. :)

All the best

PS:
Streamers
I love watching content about POE. It feels like watching scientists.
But I would have liked to hear at least a few of them address the problems everybody sees and talks about here.
With only a few exceptions, it's like: "Wooow, the best 10 hours of my life..." There could be some balance sometimes.

I play minion witch. I searched in the passive tree for "minion", then connected the dots. I'm having a smooth fine.

I'm sorry you find that challenging.

As a streamer: I am loving this game. It has many amazing aspects. It has many straight-up improvements from PoE1. The soulslike bosses are amazing.

I have my issues with it. I have ranted on stream, I have complained about it, and I made feedback posts about it.
I assume the same is the case for many other streamers.

No, you're quite far from being alone.
But negative voices are much more visible - happy players don't spend time in forums writing posts on how much the love the game.
...
Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body."

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks

This is honestly my same opinion. Like I love it, just it doesn't seem it wants me to though at the same time.
I am genuinely worried they will listen to and cater to the whinies who won't care about the game in 2 weeks time anyway.

I am up to buying all of that as long as GGG does not cave in into people wanting to change their vision of what they want POE 2 to be. And if I will, that means there are other people like me too. For example POE 2 reddit compared to these forums is 180 shift in tone with overwhelming praise for the game. And before some1 says that reddit is an echochamber, i'd argue you can say the same thing for the negativity on these forums.

So far the "people that don't fit the description" are the people who want a pretier version of POE 1: all screen exploding and a game that plays itself in the end. You say people don't want the zoom gameplay back but going through the forums - that's exactly what people who don't like POE 2 ar asking for: "nothing dies quickly so it's hard to actually engage in the game - i quit".
Well put. I am going to buy the $100 supporter pack once I see they are not caving in to people who want just another PoE 1, and I am going to support PoE 2 financially as long as the game keeps its unique identity on the ARPG market. This game is everything I ever wanted in an ARPG.

Most deaths occur because you get surrounded due to the fact that you don't clear trash mobs fast enough. This is a damage issue, not a movement issue.

This was happening to me early on also and was annoying, I called it getting gangb**ged by the entry level goons. :P

But after a few times I realized that it didn't happen if I controlled where I engaged with them, and kept a movement skill to get out of the situation if needed. I am playing Monk so Vaulting Impact gets me out of this pretty reliably.

Yes this doesn't happen in other ARPGS, and like I said, was annoying, but as I stated I came from shooters mainly. Yes I played D1, D2, Grim Dawm, Wolcen and others. Not D3 I hated that week 1. But I approached it like a PVP shooter, "I keep dying, what could I have done differently to avoid it". It is not happening anymore, unless I get careless.

1. SSF/Ruthless Player

SSF and ruthless are philosophically very different concepts. Ruthless (with trade) is Chris' ideological vision of the game in its most stingy form, while ssf is "tolerated" since the idea of no trade is abhorrent to the o.g. devs. PoE2 drops and crafting is very much in line with ruthless but if anything disincentivizes ssf even more. This shouldn't be a big surprise given what I just said above.
