You have alienated your own playerbase

+1 the game is not fun and I wont go back to poe1 to live as a second rate gamer where none of my friends are anymore. if this game fails to get more fun real quick ill just stop playing arpgs. fucking souls games ruined poe1 and poe2 imo.

Exactly, ever since those games came out (Despite me personally enjoying them, DS1 is probably the most fun I've ever had with a game) every single game now has to be this ultra sweaty, slow, dodge-roll or get 1-shot clone.
You guys do realize that you can tank some hits with proper gear/passive points/skill allocation, right?

Just play mobile games? Dont know what to tell you mate. There are so many mindless casino style games out there where you can just chill out after work, including poe1.

Alright mate, you're a l33t gam3r g0d, and I am a mobile game noob. How does that add to the discussion?

The game is clearly influences by that kind of ARPG, as was D4 to a lesser extent. The dodge-roll and the split-second reactive approach to most bosses is a form of game designed popularized by souls-games. POE1 was not a souls game, most people looking to play a top-down ARPG are probably not looking for a souls game. Some may enjoy the combination, I don't. I am expressing that in a forum for feedback. I hope you can understand that this is what this place is for.
It's weird they pushed so hard in the direction they did. The game has several conflicting core concepts with the least fun one pulling the cart.

Ruthless was utterly rejected by the community after playing it yet they continued. So little loot drops now, why would a single new player purchase any tabs? wtf is the point of a loot game that drops no loot. Dopamine starvation is the new dopamine I guess? Movement speed is glacial for an 'action' game.

So they tossed one-third of their income in the bin (stash tabs) and abandoned a significant portion of their player base to get where we are right now.

I mean, it feels like hubris to push this hard away from your such a large portion of a pretty loyal fanbase despite already having demonstrated they have zero interest in core loops like this.

The balance is good, meaningful gameplay within an hour, not 5-10 trivial and boring hours later like POE 1.

Just be patient, guides will come out soon you can follow to trivialise the game.

Also dieng 7 times in a zone is a strong and clear indicator you are doing something wrong, there are tens of thousands of players in HCSSF into and past Act 3. Think through the mechanics, use all the tools at your disposal, understand how defences work and get comfortable with dodge roll.

How do you not get that maybe 10% of the player base was interested enough to even bother to try Hardcore SSF and beyond that maybe 5% have ever even made a ruthless character?

The issue isn't difficulty...

IT IS A COMPLETE LACK OF FUN OR RESPECT FOR THE PLAYER'S TIME. All the people defending this are SSF/Hardcore SSF players or people jumping on the twitch hype train. The majority won't be around in two weeks or as soon as they hit act three and get stuck. The game is trash.

Hit the nail on the head. Quite ironic considering that this egotistical approach of ignoring player feedback is what resulted in Diablo 3 being a flop on release. And POE, developed in an approach the ARPG community wanted, being lauded as "What D3 should have been".

It's been the case since 3.15 Expedition. When Ruthless came out it spared the main game some of these "Improvements", guess this is their vision for what an ARPG should look like.

I love how difficult POE2 is. Had to fight Act1 boss multiple times before I beat him. Act2 boss kicked my ass so hard I had to go farm the areas a lot more before I was able to get better gear and defeat him.

However, I do agree that it's kind of stupid when you kill a boss and then die to a DoT your loot gets deleted on checkpoint respawn. Makes it feel like you're playing Heist in every area lol
Nah mate, we're having fun!

You're just seeing all the negativity because the instant gratification-andys are mad and camps the forum for something they can fume about, while those of us that like the game are - guess what - playing the game, rather than sitting on forums all day.

The game is hard for a lot of people. Too hard. We need to respect that.
I do not see why the first acts of the campaign should be on ruthless mode. No reason at all. This can be ramped up over the course of the campaign, or be found during end game.
What you want as a developer, is a game that includes the broad player base from the start and pulls you along.
If you are relatively new the first boss will wreck you, the second go even harder, and to get through the trials for ascendancy with honor is horrible.

I say this not dying once in any of this with my mercenary.
But I have 5k hours in POE1, and the same in soulslike games. I know dodgerolling like the back of my hand.
Is that what I want in POE2 thought? Not really.
If I want sweaty hands and 15 minute boss fights I'll give Elden Ring another go.
The rewards are also beyond horrible. 15 hours of gameplay and zero uniques. A handful of rares. Getting a blue item and two scrolls of wisdom after brutal boss fights is a slap across the chin. No good.

The core mechanics, the sound, hitboxes, artstyle, its all great.
But this needs serious tuning. It's way too slow, too little loot, and waaay too hard for most people, especially in the first three acts.
