PoE2 Difficulty: A Necessary Challenge for PoE1 Veterans
" Loot distribution for one. There are basically 2 camps here. The "I dont care how much time I invest in games, I want it to be hard, I love the challenge"... and the "I'm here for entertainment, not to be abused, I just want to play the game in a way that I find fin, in the time I have". What really baffles is is one of those groups feels it is their mission to make others play it their way... and the rest of us just want everyone to be able to choose how to play. I do not understand why being able to choose difficulty affects anyone but the person choosing it. Unless this is going to be like Ruthless, where people talk about wanting it, but dont actually play it. For the "You all have a game like that already crew, go back to POE1" .. so do you, its called Ruthless. Go play that. (but don't really, we should be able to co-exist here) I'm done buying anything until we get some clarity on the future of POE1 and POE2 and I know GGG plans to spend effort on a game I want to play.
Tell us if POE1 still has your top tier support or if POE2 will get a mode for more casual play. |

" I'm concerned that if the game becomes too easy, where players can simply copy builds online and breeze through the content, it might diminish the sense of accomplishment and the need for experimentation and strategy. I personally enjoy the current level of challenge and the need to adapt and overcome obstacles. Perhaps offering different difficulty levels or optional challenges could cater to a wider range of players while preserving the core experience for those who, like me, enjoy a good test. |

You can't choose a difficulty in an online game. Even if it is PvE. And don't bring Diablo, there the difficulty only goes up, which is fair. You want the difficulty here to go down from Normal to Easy. In a game with established economy where people who clear faster will get more.
Basically, what you are proposing is for almost everyone but a few select SSF players to play Easy. Last edited by Johny_Snow#4778 on Dec 9, 2024, 12:52:25 AM

" So ok lets explore that. How does my ability to follow a guide etc affect your play style if we have separate "game modes" aka POE and POE Ruthless in POE1? You can literally play your way, not follow a guide, have rarer loot and harder bosses etc, and I can play a bit more casual. Same content, more people experiencing what GGG make, more people buying things etc. I dont even mind if you say, achievements are only available in Ruthless. Literally dont care, anyone measuring themselves by what they accomplish in a game is already waaaay lost.. lol Have forums titles that stroke egos, what ever man. Just met me watch reruns of a TV program with my wife and not have to play hard mode. I'm done buying anything until we get some clarity on the future of POE1 and POE2 and I know GGG plans to spend effort on a game I want to play.

" You better go tell that to POE1 Ruthless man. It literally already happens and is entirely possible. How do you think private leagues work? Customizable rulesets etc. I'm done buying anything until we get some clarity on the future of POE1 and POE2 and I know GGG plans to spend effort on a game I want to play.

You want a different league then. So we'll have normal PoE 2, SSF PoE 2, Hardcore PoE 2 and now.....Benevolent PoE 2?

The purpose of a game is to provide enjoyment. If players become frustrated, they are likely to abandon the game. There is little point in presenting a challenge if it only leads to frustration.
