Damn, lost everything....
Additional item: yahoo. I stopped trusting them a while ago. Note that the email is the weakpoint. A password that's similar but not the same (so long as the 'not same' isn't a pattern) is still better than the same password, especially since many attempts just throw passwords they collected from a list against your account. Chances are, they got in via yahoo then just did a reset.
There's a fraction of players who like consistency and predictability: killing boss X will yield item Y.
This game really isn't for people like that. This game is for people who'll do the same area over and again because they know..., a Mirror can drop anywhere, anytime. - CharanJaydemyr |

" " No. Can't tell if troll or not but you did manage to find your way to the forums. Why you are confused or surprised by the fact that no one should have your passwords (including your "bros") kinda makes me feel a lil sick to my stomach. Anyway GL to you and your bros in the future. No contempt meant. IGN: VistaChris Last edited by VistaChris#6285 on Apr 29, 2013, 2:48:34 AM

" I`m not here to troll, just to give a fair warning to others that may or may not be as naive as I was (but no more). I guess I was just looking for some sort of ailment to make me want to start again. And for a fact I don`t share passwords with anybody, I have no other "bros", it was my real life brother which I can`t wait to call to wake him up and give him the "good news". Anyway, thx for the replies and game on. Last edited by Outsyder84#4262 on Apr 29, 2013, 3:01:32 AM

Be very careful about the state that your computer is in. Given that whoever took your items has both your PoE and email password, and assuming that these are different and not both passwords that you've used for lots of other services, the chances are quite good I would say that whoever did this has a rootkit and/or keylogger installed on your machine.
Given the prevalence and ease of use of such tools and the fact that other users have reported successfully detecting them in cases where PoE accounts have been broken into before, this is a vastly more probable event than GGG's servers being compromised directly. There are a lot of machines out there which belong to botnets. Apart from a tiny amount of additional network traffic, you'd never ordinarily notice that they'd been affected -- but whoever is running the botnet can upload whatever instructions they want to all of those machines, and have them carried out without the host OS reporting what's going on. It can be challenging even for a technically sophisticated user to detect when this has occurred, particularly if the machine is just sitting dormant waiting for instructions. Once a rootkit is installed, you can no longer trust the things your OS is telling you about what's running and what's on the hard drive. Neither can virus scanners (who rely on the OS to report these things accurately). Booting into another OS off of a USB stick might be a good option for being able to analyse what's there and also to back up non-program data safely and reformat the disk. You NEVER tell others your password, not even your family.. I would not trust my family with mine! I don't even let them use my PC. Bad bad bad idea.
If GGG chickens made an action RPG, what would it be called? Path of Eggxile, a Peck 'n' Slash RPG.

Been playing since last year. I run Virus scans often and never share my password, not even with my wife. Woke up Saturday with my account stripped. Ran numerous scans from different programs and came up with 0 malicious programs from every single one. In 16 years of gaming I have never had my account compromised.
Emailed support and was told they couldn't do anything about it and would not restore anything. After donating money over the past year to help support a company only to be told by the same company they won't support me when I need it to me is a slap in the face. I don't care what they say, the account theft did not happen from my lack of security period. Will never drop another penny into a this company again. |

" Then you will have to prepare yourself for bad things happening such as account theft. One good, savvy family member and 3 not-savvy family members tends to turn a PC into a infected pile of mess. For example, one of my relatives was called up and told she had a problem with windows.... she agreed to let them 'fix' it and installed all their crap. What may seem BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS to us may not be to other people. If GGG chickens made an action RPG, what would it be called? Path of Eggxile, a Peck 'n' Slash RPG.
