Damn, lost everything....
Just logged onto my account after a week break....everything is gone.
Sucks. Knew something was wrong when my password wouldn't work I know you're all gonna say that I either shared my password or used some programs that compromised my security...but the fact is that I'm very careful about that type of thing. Anyway, I don't expect anything. Just want it to be known that there are people out there who follow all the rules and still lose everything. Thanks for listening. I follow all the rules and have security measures at every step and I got hacked twice.
Never been hacked in any game before and I played D2 for years, WoW from vanilla to early cataclysm, guild wars 1 and 2, Aion, Rift, Dark age of camelot, and many others. I still refuse to believe that it was something on my end but it can't be helped.. sorry to hear man. i too fas fo youuuuuuu Last edited by Duskbane#4733 on Apr 28, 2013, 8:40:52 PM

Someone "Attempted" to hack my account last night at 2:30 AM. The only reason I know is I had an Email stating that my password was requested to be reset and a link to reset it. It never was reset and instead of following the link to reset it, I went to the website and reset it there.
It appears they thought they had access to my email account, but they did not. Since my provider offers webmail services, I am sure they were attempting to intercept the password reset there. Fortunately, I have it set to instantly forward and wipe all emails. Merciless difficulty unique PW and paranoia FTW :) Now have to come up with another unique difficult email Password... " Good job on you catching it, my rule of thumb is 3 uppercase 3 special 3 numbers 3 lower 3 other. 15 characters will take a while to brute force, and if you want add more than that. And make sure there in a random order. Twitch.tv/Nithryok

" I can't imagine anyone bruting passwords nowadays. You can do this locally on your computer, but attempting to do it online would be a waste of your proxies since your IP gets blocked if you attempt to login with wrong data too often and too fast. And even if not, it would be slow as hell. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Lol. My password is something obvious and password-y. Same as what I use on every single other website except things like Amazon, PayPal, and banks. Only got hacked once, and that was for my old Yahoo email, and every Yahoo email gets hacked at least once.

" If they have to rely on a web login you are correct. But in the case of an email service being hacked and them getting a whole bunch of password hashes, brute force is being used. Someone said that yahoo was hacked etc... but yahoo is not the only one, most email services have been hacked in the past and it is still ongoing (i.e. will be in the future). " While I cannot particularly do anything if gmail is outright taken down, what I have done personally is set up the feature to SMS message-verify my phone if a login attempt to gmail occurs from an unusual IP. |
