Multiplayer Loot - Common or seperate?
First off, this subject has been beaten to death in many topics already. But I will address the concerns in this thread:
I play a ranged based character. I kill so efficiently that FFA loot would be to MY benefit in parties. Timers just annoy me in that my teammates run in and grab "my" drops. There is no benefit whatsoever for me to have "instanced loot". Your fear of FFA loot is misguided at best. Wait until you get your character working properly and you will see how timers works (by design) to benifit the weaker party members, and the weaker party members is by the way not the ranged characters. On the contrary, ranged damage is one of the absolutely strongest builds. I think those of you that are concerned over short duration timers or FFA loot haven't really played at the higher level parties, or have yet to have an efficent build/good enough gear to be competitive. A common gameplay tactic in a high level party is to split up so that each party members attack mobs "solo", yielding lots more drops and exp. With good enough gear you don't need to be on the same screen to kill efficiently, this would even be detrimental since you have to share the spoils. |

" Whats the point of playing multiplayer then? if even with the party monsters are pathetic enough that you soloing on different corners of the map |

" Care to elaborate what this means? Look, you've accepted the timer already. You admit you get cheesed off when someone grabs "your" drop before you. All that happens is you lose the timer and get the loot immediately without having the loot visible to anyone else until you choose to drop it. You've lost absolutely nothing. How is this not to your benefit? " On the contrary. You're clearly anti-instanced loot while at the same time failing to providing any solid reasoning. Either you're being dishonest or you fear change. FFA: The looting choice of Hardcore-Hero Manly-Men Griefers! Yo!

Pretty simple as far as why we should never have "instanced loot"; instanced loot leads to a glut of high end items.
Example: If a boss was only going to drop one rare and then you instance the loot for each player, now he has a chance to drop up to six rares (if you have a full party)instead of one. This is one of the single largest mistakes that shop across the street made when planning their game to be online only. Last edited by fiftysixk#7691 on Jun 27, 2012, 2:54:27 PM

"Err... no. The loot which is currently being randomly assigned can just as easily be instanced. FFA: The looting choice of Hardcore-Hero Manly-Men Griefers! Yo!

Separate. Separate. Separate.
If you're playing co-op simply chat items to each other to share. Racing to fight over items, even with a timer, is terrible. I should be able to play co-op and still take my time looking through things or re-visiting areas my friends might have hit without me while I was in town or something. |

My problem with assigned loot is as follows: Who got the kill? Their quantity/rarity determined the loot. Why then does their loot get divvied up among everyone instead of giving them the loot? Either the determination for quantity and rarity is flawed or the loot distribution is.
It was better when it all dropped free for all and I had a right to say, "drop it or get kicked". Now it drops with someone's name on it and they think they're entitled to the loot, even though they're just leeching. (This is a broad generalization, I rarely see people like this, but they do exist) Also, it rewards tools that stop in the middle of a boss fight to grab loot that dropped in my name while I continue to fight the boss. Ultimately, instanced loot that drops based on your quantity and rarity would be best, but I do like the free for all loot system in this game, it feels right. At the same time, come open Beta, I will certainly be running with afks to boost my loot without threat of losing it to someone else.
