Multiplayer Loot - Common or seperate?
" Yep, it seems to be based on the distance of the intended recipient from the dropped item, but I could be wrong. I've seen it as low as 2-3 seconds and as high as 7-8, but these are rough estimates. Either way, it's still way too short. It causes a lot of distraction for the entire group in a public party due to everyone waiting for the timer to expire and hopping on someone else's drops. I've been in a few respectable groups where this did not happen, but it's not common. |

I've said it in other threads and I'll say it here: D2's FFA loot system is why my friends and I quit playing that game. The current loot timer system is negligibly better. If this isn't fixed, we won't be playing PoE. And that's sad, because in other respects this game looks fabulous. But instanced/separate loot is really THAT important to us.
What I can't understand is why GGG doesn't seem to comprehend that there should be at least an option for this. Just about every MMO has it, in the form of an option for FFA or round-robin looting. D3 has it. Guild Wars has it. What's GGG's problem??? Last edited by Minioneer#1827 on Jun 23, 2012, 2:17:42 PM

" Having the ability for the group leader to set this would solve all problems. Having more options is always better. If you don't like it, you don't have to group with them. Cut and dry solution. |

" If it's optional the loot setting needs to be shown on the billboard when selecting a group to join. |

can't read anymore about people complaining about what this game should be because other games are this or that way.
that's no point. the devs wantes this game to be different and it still is. this (in my opinion not neccessary) loot timer already is a concession to you people who are fixed only on looting and getting your share guaranteed delivered free house. boring. that's simply not compatible with the original idea of a rough and unforgiving island where you have to fight hard for your life and compete with your fellow survivors. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I think it should be a group option as to how looting will work in each group. Everyone is happier if they get to play the game they want to play.
I wonder if the people whining about having an instanced loot option are worried they won't be able to take advantage of newer/slower people. If you want to play in groups that are truly competitive on every level, you should have that option. I just don't see how having some people able to play co-op the way they want to will hurt anyone else. I personally don't understand the desire to have the loot squabble in a co-op game. If I want to compete I'll go do PvP or participate in a ladder race. When I play co-op I want to get that team experience. |

" You're supposed to be working together with your group, first of all, not competing. Secondly, even if that was the case loot is in no way a competition. It's literally impossible for a ranged character to loot anything right now unless they just ignore helping to fight and ignore their own safety and focus only on looting, to hell with the group. How is the game just automatically handing everything to the melees a "competition"? " That's exactly what it is. Other people getting a fair share of loot has no effect on them...unless of course they were the one hogging it all. They're scared of losing their unfair advantage. " There always is a competition on loot in the normal game except in PvP where you also fight for your life. " nope, but to compete with others doesn't exclude having temporary alliances and making friends build on trust. But that can't happen if the game is sharing the loot automatically and you can't find out if the other one can be trusted. The timer is a fair compromise for both sides but i could live without it. i wanna play fair because i'm. not because the game leaves me no other choice. " i have played several archer chars and even before the timer was introduced there was no problem getting my share of items. depends on your style of gaming though, if you always keep one screen security distance to the bossfight you will miss some loot, even now with the timer in place. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I just wanted to add my support of separate loot. I played Diablo 3 for a couple weeks when it came out and that was the only thing I walked away from the game having approved of.
We all know what kind of vultures us gamers are and it's just uninteresting to have to compete with even friends over items. Separate loot tables for each player would make this game go from a 9 to a 9.5/10 for me. |

FFA loot is the best option.
And by the way L2Search. It's not like this hasn't been discussed to death many times before. "That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.."
