This game has an elite rich and a very vast poor population (Currency system is broken)

The problem i see is that using an Exalted to actually craft (which is the thing they are made for in the first place) is stupid in 90% of the cases.
They are kind of rare and they add a random stat that (considering useless modifiers are more than just a rare possibility) just isn't worth it. Saving them and spending them on better already rdy to go items is much better. Raising droprate while introducing a new super rare trading currency like Mirrors, would propably make crafting more interesting, while making the "rich guys" most likely ragequit. I don't see any viable solution without fucking up the whole economy. btw: Yoman if you read this feel free to confirm my freaking RNG luck on HC earlier today ;) IGN: Darkrox (not my main, just for easy contact)

" You have in fact struck the nail with a resounding blow. The currency system was designed to be multi-functional. Instead of having 4 million gold pieces spew forth from the belly of every slain bandit, we get a functional shiny rock of sorts which can be used not just to barter, but also to upgrade our gear. In it's theoretical form this is a very fresh and inspired approach to the currency grind and I applaude it along with many of the other things in PoE that have been done so very right. Unfortunately in terms of the drop rate of these lumps of usefulness GGG obviously had to create some sort of hierarchy and rarity factor for them based on what I assume was their take on the usefulness of the particular lump. This was the beginning of the problem. Then along came players, curse those greedy buggers, and they started trying to buy and sell, flip trades, profiteer, farm themselves into billionaires, rip of noobs and all other manner of skullduggery. So it was that these lumps of usefulness, much like the shells on a stone age beach began to take on a life and perceived value all of their own, because this is how economies self-organize. In the face of a vague and wispy monetary system, people will eventually find a way to invent one. So it was that websites sprung up spewing forth the current odds on how many chromatic lumps traded into a fusing shaped lump and how many chaos into a prism shaped lump and sadly what the going dollar price of an exalted lump was and as more and more new players came along and tried to break into the fledgling economy they had no choice but to learn the lingo and conform to these declared trading standards if they wished to do business in the trade window, such as it is. In the mean time, fuelled by the greed and chaos of a new frontier little farmer men from eastern lands and multiboxing strip farmer began filtering their way into Wraeclast and they found ways to gather up riches beyond the imagining of any mere working stiff who plays in the evenings after the kids are abed and these unscrupulous farmers began to manipulate the value of certain rare lumps such that they rose to heights which were in fact beyond all reason. Which brings us now to this current state of affairs and some uncomfortable questions. What is in fact the real value of an exalted orb? It's function is to add one random and 9 out of ten times useless attribute to a rare item. How can this possibly be worth 2.5 Divine Orbs which can change all of the number on a rare item and turn a rubbish item into a great one? How on earth can it possibly in anyone's wildest imaginings be worth 11 gemcutter's prisms, with which you are able to improve the quality of a skill gem, something which you use constantly and can pass around from character to character? How is it also that a skill gem which drops with 15% quality (that's a skill gem + 15gcp) can only be traded for 1, or 2 gcps in the current market, yet it is possible to trade one with only 5% more value for an exalted or more (which in actual fact if you think about it i still only half of what that gem should be worth)? You can add many questions to this list I'm sure but these to my mind illustrate very clearly that all is not well in the banks and fleamarkets of Wraeclast and careful action needs to be taken to address this, before the situation becomes completely untenable and prohibitive to new players having any sort of positive experience when they join up. |

" Too late its already F'd up. :P so they have to do something to fix it.... if the rich guys quit because the system gets more fair and better for everyone.... that's just too too bad IMHO, though truthfully I don't think they will... they will just find another way to exploit the system which I am ok with really. We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.
