Of the ones I have used, they usually added on top of a finished build, so I would like to know which ones specifically killed what builds of yours now that they are normal quality gems.

not all my builds that had alt. gems are useless now. All my expensive/ " minmaxed " builds are useless now... for what i intendet them to be.

big chunk of damage gone because of all alt. quality auras being removed.

mana issues because of mana reservation on alt. precision gone.

my totem explode build got hit by this nerf aswell even tho it got nerfed into the ground after CRCBL.

And the one thing that makes me dissapointed the most is my wardloop char....

instead of 4-5 casts per second (or something) i have now 1 cast every 3-4 seconds -.-


Theres a lot that wont function the way it should be with minmaxed/pseudo minmaxed build if on or two things change


But the point is not what gems are gone now and that i had to redo all my builds to have them work as before.
The point is that GGG could've decided to let the existing alt. q. gems stay in the game but you wont be able to acquire new ones. Legacy items.

People get attached to stuff they invest time into and get angry when you take that away and GGG knows that. Therefore they dont respect our time.

It is also about preventing server crashes/lag(high expenses to run them) and keeping the design space open for more transfigured gems. Keeping alt qual support gems could create huge issues down the line when combined with transfigured gems so removing them makes a lot of sense. Very few legacy items create the same issue (although I bet they regret not removing those too, especially the ones with built in "supports" like legacy reach etc).

I play a lot of standard myself and I fully get why they decided to remove them. I just wish they gave a small window to trade them in for awakened gems or something first.

there were builds that relied on alt quality gems like for exaplme my wardloop char. i have given you examples. dont act like i havn't

My feedback is that i dont like the change and that i would preffered some legacy gems... thats quite constructive i would say.

tbh, i find it quite sad how there are many people who disregard STD enjoyers.

"std is a place where old characters/gears exist" "the game is all about temp leagues"

etc.

before temp leagues were a thing. STD was the main way to play POE. most of the people who supported GGG long ago were purely STD players. over time GGG made temp leagues have so much benefit that even STD players like myself jump into temp leagues to enrich my STD character with new items that came from temp leagues.

the fact of the matter is STD is not GGG's focus. regardless of how the community views it. no matter how much i bitch and whine. GGG dgaf about std.

they could have made alt quality gems become legacy. nope. just converted to nothing.

whats next? removing enchantments? removing quality from jewels? removing annoints?

I do get the frustration. It's why I delete my standard characters and why I've tried to force myself to not get attached to my AWESOME minmax'd builds. I'm sad they are gone, but I move on quick cuz I don't take any game too seriously.

That being said, I agree with the critics in this thread: there is an enormous difference between "useless" and "5-10% weaker"...That precision example can be fixed by simply lowering the gem level and you lose almost nothing. The ward loop thing....yes, that was probably gutted because ward loop relies on extremely precise numbers and balance. But the rest of your min/maxed builds? definitely just a 5-10% dps loss or a quick easy fix that has you foaming at the mouth.

Meanwhile...many of my standard builds got ACTUAL gutted with completely changed mechanics rather than tiny debuffs. I'm waving to old gladiators, old chieftains, old builds that quite literally relied on things that don't exist anymore and have no replacement. When I would be required to 1) redo my entire tree and 2) farm new gear to make an old character function in a similar way, THAT means that my original character was made "useless". 10/20/30% power loss....not even close.

99.9% of alt gems were used for 1-2% extra power at the high end. There were only a VERY select few that actually created new functions which CAN'T be replaced in a matter of minutes.

i know STD isnt GGGs focus but exactly for that reason they could let us have our nice things we work so hard for.
I mean... Skill tree changes weren't so bad. Most of the time some small tweaks were enough to get the build going again and no one really has to "grind" to get the skill points in the first place.
Removing modifier on stuff player crafted or Removing valuable items that enable builds in the other hand can't be or shouln't be the alternative. :/
