MF and POE
It's boring, and I refuse to play it, plus it gimps melee characters more (without ever trying it). ERASE IT FROM THE GAME!

" HAHA I thought so at first, but then after re-reading it I thought you were being serious my bad! LOL ARPGs just aren't for people who don't like to mf! Last edited by Cðm#4998 on Jan 8, 2024, 2:28:11 PM

" Original D2 actually had the same issue though as POE, people went MF to get items and rerolled once they had the items. People would do ubers, which in POE doesn't even technically need to be done to get the boss drops. My specific accounts isn't what is in question here. Any other league I would have been ecstatic to find stuff I've found, but this league its a daily occurrence for some. In my guild alone I've had people find mirrors, magebloods, headhunters, in maps solo. (I've even found one, ironically with no MF) POE is a game of multipliers for sure, but theres no reason loot should be impacted by the gear you are wearing. All it does is create a gap between players that have it and players that don't. Gear should be about improving yourself, not the loot you get. Typically you'd need a support\party setup to MF because the MF gear gimps your character, but in all actuality you just drop down to do easier content and abuse whatever meta fotm overpowered bow skill is in the game and shit on that content instead. > I don't disagree with specific types of MF though, quite a good idea, but that's kind of what scarabs are now, aren't they? It sort of is, my suggestion was if they insisted on keeping gearized modifiers. But like we've discussed, this is all a situation of out of control multipliers. " I've used it in the past on melee characters or other characters, its not like I've never equipped MF gear on anyone ever before. The concept and idea is boring and you've contributed nothing to the post except a bump. I think if people (and GGG) thought about MF as a stat on gear, they would realize the much better concept is rewarding players for stronger characters and giving them the ability to increase the rewards and difficulty, rather then rewarding people for gimping characters with multipliers of loot on gear. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

" TBH - party play is a massively bigger issue - gating mirrors, hh, mbs behind party play is TRASH. IIQ+IIR isn't going to magically get you those, trust me. I solo farmed full IIQ in the past and never found a HH doing it. Found 1 HH previous to this league and it was during harvest, which was another juicer league. First mirror and mb drops were this league (multiple of both, solo farmer, plenty of time played and rewarded for MY effort - it was not just "raining mirrors" for me). Map+forest juicing, scarabs, sextants are all INFINITELY more important and impactful btw. This league simply closes the gap between party and solo play, which as I have mentioned elsehwhere IS A GOOD THING. Building for MF is literally one of many strategies. You can be extremely profitable and never equip a single IIQ/IIR item. You just have to not play like you did - it would be like having a car, but walking everywhere and then complaining it took so long to walk. You have to understand the strengths and weaknesses. I'll say it one more time - this league is GOOD because it CLOSES THE GAP of party and solo play. Party boosted MF is actually the most ridiculous mechanic ever and should go WAY before iiq/iir gear. "All it does is create a gap between the players that have it and the ones that don't"
This right here.... This. is. the. game. Players either HAVE something or they don't. Players are either dealing 10 million damage, or they are dealing 1 million damage. Players can either run juiced t16s or they can barely run white maps. Players either HAVE mirror items, or they have essence crafted ilvl 68 items. Players either chose to run a bow build or they chose to run a 2h melee build. Players either use a computer with a stellar graphics card and superfast internet, or they run a potato. MF is nothing special. It is the same as every other mod or offering the game gives you. You CHOOSE what you like to run as a player. MF is not so unique that it is an absolute requirement to play the game. To actually BUILD a character with enough mf to even matter means you are likely not tackling the epitome of endgame content. It's a tradeoff that YOU get to decide if its for you or not. Things that you see on youtube with hundred-divine explosions and other crazy occurrences are NOT regular "slap on mf and watch the divines rain!". These videos are created with specially designed teams of players that have pushed the absolute limits of mf with mirror-tier gear and seamless teamwork. This is not something even a handful of the total players in PoE would be able to do. AND THAT'S OKAY. Why are some players able to run eternal labs night and day, finishing in less than 5 minutes per run when it takes me 30? NERF movespeed and those builds. Why are players able to farm uber bosses with no problem, when they kill me instantly? NERF their defenses and power! Why are players able to reach the thousands in delve when I crap out at the early hundreds? NERF their builds! You want everyone to be on equal footing all the time? Play candyland. " I agree, imagine if you could get those items just by playing juiced up content solo on a strong character, rather then gimping it and trying to find solutions for that. " It will with enough rolls of the dice this league. Granted, I don't know what next league entails, but the loop is simular, put MF gear on, get better returns (regardless of tier) then someone famring t16 with modest investment into the map. My whole point is that they can move it to investing into the difficulty of the map for better rewards, rather then into item on character. " Its not really the issue at play here. Solo is possible because of power creep from tinctures\psn duration. " You could sit in hideout and craft\flip all day and make more money. Theres probably a dozen good money making strategies if you want to do something else. The whole idea is that by giving up MF, we could have the option to just naturally get better drops with juiced maps. THAT WOULD LEVEL THE SOLO\GROUP play curve anyway..... " No it shouldn't. Gear should go as soon as possible. https://youtu.be/T9kygXtkh10?t=285

And lets not pretend like GGG doesn't acknowledge that MF needs to come at a power tradeoff. Remember how you used to be able to roll IIQ on every rare piece of gear? And how there Increased Item Rarity Support had a big brother called Item Quantity Support?
Those were obviously too easy options for gearing, and so they only exist as legecy gear in Standard. Wearing Sadima's Touch gloves for 10% IIQ and a corrupted implicit at best vs the power of a rare pair of gloves with Eldritch implicits, spell suppression, 90+ life and veiled mods for conversion or extra damage. A fully crafted body armour with tons of stats vs Greed's Embrace which even reduces your movement speed by 20%. These are heavy tradeoffs, and people who are willing to put in the time & effort can make extra bank. The only reason this discussion happens in so many threads is because on top of the usual game balance we have map-wide IIQ/IIR and raw currency drops with wisps, which will be gone in a few months. That's the problematic part. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" Maybe you should try d3/d4...it sounds like it has to offer exactly what you are looking for. Also, this league isn't good bc IIQ/IIR gear, it's good because the forest juice mulipliers on super-stacked juice maps - which actually, again, is easier for group play - they get yet ANOTHER advantage. I understand where you are coming from - you want to only scale power and be rewarded for that. This is a weak, 1 dimensional design and seen on D3/D4. Strong character in POE do things like farm bosses. |
