Experience loss driving some players away?
" this. Don`t get the discussion anyway...if you got no death-penalty (and to be honest, the death-penalty below 80 is laughable), why even let chars die? What`s the drawback? Walking? I get when someone doesn`t want to lose his/her whole char, i don`t, but dying should have severe consequence otherwise there`s no point to it. |

Why not just create a third league with no penalty at all? Really what's the harm in having multiple options on how to play. Options are good thing imo.

As long as I have an option to disable your options, sure why not.
P.S. Devs have stated future leagueswill onlybe harder (thrones you can pay for). Not easier. |

Build a better character.
I remade my 86 archer because my passives werent quite right. If you have good gear/decent skill you wont be dying by the time the XP penatly actually sets you back hours. the kids who are QQing are probably level 35-70 in the first place and dont know how to properly build a character/play it. There needs to be repercussion for playing like a scrub, XP pen is the easiest way to accomplish that. Invasion - No Sacrifice No Glory

I love the XP loss mechanic. It gives you a reason to actually play somewhat cautiously even in Default, as opposed to what happens in D3 softcore where everyone just tries to faceroll as hard as possible.

The best part of the game is factors like this , sure it's not for evrey 1 but they can play other games if they do not want the chalange of staying alive. Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time
Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them. |

" What's the harm? No harm to those who think an entertainment product should have no soul. Cost/resource considerations aside, there's theoretically 'no harm' in changing all the [insert own example here] zerg from SC2 to fluffy bunnies that ADD health instead of taking it away because some people find the creator's version too scary; the 'harm' I see is that the creator's original version is utterly shat on and their creative vision is diluted to weak watered down urine. When I go to watch a video of the game online I will see fluffy bunnies shitting rainbows and buffing their 'enemy' and have NO IDEA what the original intent of the designer was. I won't see the game as challenging or interesting and I'd wonder what group of dickheads decided to make a game, call it 'hardcore', and make it total faceroll. The developers have been absolutely clear about their vision for a game where, for once, we don't play do-gooder heroes out to save the world - it's about being completely out for yourself in a very unfair world. All the systems in the game support this approach - the original FFA loot system (also poisoned by casual whiners so far), the bandit PVP event, etc. etc. and the experience loss system. /blather In the end, I think GGG will be forced by their investors or whoever is actually keeping them afloat, to casualise the game some more so y'all may get your wish anyway. The way of the world is to expect something for little to no effort and without 'punishment' for mistakes. There are a MILLION games which do this for you - why make the few that try to be different, the same? Sad... IGN: ScrubcoreRulezBitch

" " There's your answer. Just think really hard on those 2 lines from your post and realize that some people want a game like PoE. Anyone who thinks “the customer is always right” never worked in tech support.

" XP penalty doesn't accomplish that. I play like a scrub all the time since I don't care if I die when on zero exp, and even 14% exp on level 60 or so is nothing really. eg: I *could* try to beat Piety properly, or level up first, but it's easier just to spam portal scrolls and kill her the scrub way to get my two skill points. Of course I don't play like a scrub on maps (unless I've just levelled...), but I basically just scrub my way through the main content of the game since the XP loss system encourages that. If you want to stop low-lvl players playing like scrubs, then you need to have a different penalty. If you want to disproportionately punish high-level players who get killed due to desync, then the current XP penalty system works fine. XP loss system is broken because it doesn't discourage scrub players from playing badly, it discourages some good players from playing at all. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:
