I Understand Why Ultimatum Didn't Go Core Now

I ran ultimatum for 5-6 maps, then i blocked it. It is boring , takes you out of mapping flow and not rewarding at all. Even with the reward upped i would block it. Still it beats TOTA. but hell what a bad designed mechanic.
IMO they should have baked Ritual and Ultimatum together.

Make it so the master trials give favor, interact with favor, while just having the minigame-like events with the difficulty of ritual and not how ultimatum was, aka harder in every retrospect.

When a round ended, you should have been given the option to buy items from the window based on your favor, defer, or reroll just as you would before, but if you choose to buy items the event "ends".

This would have been AMAZING. Instead, they brought back the old Ultimatum that isn't as interesting mechanically other than the aesthetics and the cool interactions of Ultimatum.

Design wise, Ultimatum was the coolest themed league they ever added but I personally disliked it in every fashion of how it worked mechanically, how punishing it was, how difficult it was and how, I personally, have NEVER gotten anything valuable from it, even during the league itself.

With a lot of rebalancing, this could be good.

I never do Ritual, because the way to run it optimally means rushing the boss, checking if there's an altar, and then backtracking to clear the altars. That does not go well with eldritch altars where you need to clear the map first. Or you spend time backtracking to altars after you clear the map and kill the boss, which takes time and is annoying.

Merging it with Ultimatum would be IMO a good step forward.
best part about ultimatum is the taunt guy. reward is dogshit and mobs are overtuned as usual. ran a dozen of those in t16 maps and got nothing. always 10 round, mageblood jugger. loled hard at "well rolled rares" - bro im better picking alchemy from the ground one by one.
the trial master is not a believable character, he pulls me out of the game.

Edit: Like Alva could show up and say "Just in Banana Exile" and i'd be 1000x more immersed than with this ultimatum guy.

I would suggest that ultimatum's difficulty isn't the issue, but that nowadays, blues/yellows have arch nemesis mods, and it was never designed for that (just another league mechanic like delve or heist which were great in their time, but now probably best to just avoid most of the time. My take on things anyway...)

They removed archnemesis from the game in 3.20 league...well, sorta.
On death effects are still there in copious amounts and this is (and was) one of the main criticisms. Especially in areas like Ultimatum, where your manuvering space is severely limited.

This is a massive clusterfuck with all these on death mods, void zones, effects combined with a small arena that has a whole bunch of its own effects, traps, pools and whatnot. It's just not fun to play. All you have to do is to build around all this bullshit and facetank it. But then why do that, there are better farming methods in this game.
I never understood the hype about Ultimatum. The fact that it takes too long to climb 10 waves and the reward is just way too random is crazy. Also they should not expect people to not die. Every angle in this game is designed to kill players and ultimatum do not allow mistakes.

Also Trialmaster seems to be crazy hard and also do not allow death. Can be hard to find. Why not add something like fragment system that you get fragments by doing ultimatum waves and when you have enough collected turns into a key to fight him like we had the key before?

Ritual is a much better version of Ultimatum. You can progress towards any reward over time and the punishment for dying is much smaller since you only really miss out on 1 altar if you die you can still salvage the rest and get some tribute.
Remember the joke Chris said, that people had too much fun with Ultimatum, so they burned out and complained a lot for next leagues.
It definitely had nothing to do with itemization and Harvest availability, right? :D

What a freaking joke it was back then and now with reintroduction of Ultimatum, it is even better joke.

As with every mechanic, there is the question people do not ask themselves - will it be fun after they bring it down to general level of rewards?
- For ultimatum the question is - NO. It sucked back then, it sucks now. League popularity has nothing to do with how well made the ultimatum league mechanic was. It had simple ingredients - PAUSE button, and BIG party wide rewards for ZERO investment.

It is absolute dog shit mechanic that shouldn't be brought back.

On the other hand, it is good to have clear skip mechanics. I don't pause for even a second to consider running Ultimatum :D

3.13 was the golden age.
Ult is fine, it just needs a loot correction. Either make the monsters drop stuff again, make the rewards well rolled and/or give a pool of rewards per round to shoot for.

I've already made a dime selling catalysts and getting 4 divines from the mechanic.

Protect the altar needs to go tho, worst one and i specced into survive and fight, why am i getting protect?
One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.
