Unironically the worst patch notes I have ever read, still no significant balance changes.
" I don't get these types of posts (like the long OP). This is likely to be the biggest meta shakeup for a very long time. RF seems to have been killed off, so that 10% from current league will most likely be much lower this coming league (unless Pohx finds a new way). We don't even know what the new gems will be like, or how broken some of them will be. You can be pretty damn sure that the more creative minds will find a way to break the game in new ways with some of the new toys. Besides, the patch notes for 3.22 was pretty damn bad, with almost only Ruthless changes. I actually look forward to this league, and hope it will be good. TOTA was boring as sin to me, but I hope this one will be fun for more than 1 week (TOTA started well, but it was too samey in the long haul, and way too one-shotty at high ranking ofc). |

" will the quality bonus strikes on lightning arrow proc off of hydrosphere? because if so that has some serious boss dps implications with just 10% quality on a base gem. Or that with new mark? that spawns phantasms for the enemy. that with ashes and max quality would be like 4 hits per attack, assuming they all hit something. Guess we need to see the gem info to really know. |

There is this bandaid new ascendancy that lets you socket up to 3 "sanctified relics" into it to fix your build.
I got good damage and defense but crap clear, mapping is bad -socket profane bloom thing I got good damage and clear but defense is shit -socket something from juggernaut or champion Etc etc. These "charms" have up to 2 ascendancy notables per one and you can socket up to 3. So you can get up to six ascendancy notables from any class - albeit at a reduced strength. I don't expect these to be ultra expensive. It's not a forbidden jewel that only drops from pinnacle bosses at a shit drop rate and has 200+ possibilities. These things will be sold by merchants in the league mechanic. |

" there will be no meta change AT ALL what makes ranged/bows meta is still there what makes melee garbage is still there nothing changed. 'good qualities' are there to at least somewhat compensate for HUGE nerf they get elsewhere (enchants, alt-quals, alt-quals on SUPPORTS and utility skills) most of the showcased trans gems are.. meh? is trans Dual Strike significantly better than the original? no. it is different and imo - terrible. if the revealed list of trans gems had no ParachutelessZombie people would react with 'meh?' because all the gems revealed so far are just that - meh. ofc besides the rain of zombies - people somehow believe the unreleeased gems will be as interesting rather than Dual Strike of Blandness tell me what changes that will turn the tables on Tornado Shot vs Dual Strike comparison. im all ears " unless you buy then unID for an equivalent of 2 days of grind.. remember: they will find a way to make it gated somehow. think 'good' Sanctum relics vs the junk you find. they will find the way Last edited by sidtherat#1310 on Dec 3, 2023, 4:09:54 AM

The current game design has slowly turned this game into a loot-shower fest, chase uniques are way too available; and obtaining chase items through stacked decks and valdo's boxes simply isn't fun. splitting steel will be insane if left unchanged, slams got buffed a bit with cdr on warcries, eq got a buff and earthshatter got its helm enchant as quality, melee got a little love this league, but bows didn't need more of a buff, tshot got a free 30 div helm enchant as quality lol

" i hope you understand that these 'buffs' are there to compensate loss of alt-quals and enchants? example: Earthshatter now: +1 fissure from alt qual (chance) +1 fissure from enchant +20% more damage from Divergent Pulverize + stuff from various alt-quals on supporting skills soon: +1 fissure from quality sure, now you can use Enhance lvl4 for another +1 if you can afford it and if you deem it stronger than regular support multiplier there are no buffs for slams, 3.23 is universal, global power downgrade that people are - astonishingly - oblivious. probably blinded by falling Zombie and 'big numbers' on qualities. and while global nerf is 'ok' - in this case it hurts weak builds like crazy while keeping meta the same |

I generally agree with the sentiment, OP. I do get the feeling that this patch has been pitched as a massive change, but in reality is just an attempt to oversimplify PoE1's systems, so that in the future, when the balance team gets smaller (you know, after PoE2 is out), it will be easier to make changes to the game.
Pretty bow, nice wrapping paper. Pretty mid gift. I will hold total judgement for now though, this team has before "recycled" 4 acts of content into 10 acts of surprisingly good content, and the endgame speaks for itself. While I generally don't enjoy losing agency as a player, and seeing that agency get placed into the hands of the balance team; I understand why (likely PoE2). Let's at least glass half full until release, and assume they not only kept most of the fun and interesting alt qual/lab enchant combos, but also created dozens of builds, if not hundreds, to try after league start. Would be nice to have a big levelling meta shakeup though, the last few league have felt more like wobbles |
