dont lock the new gem system behind the lab

Why this is not a good idea from GGG:

Reason 1:

The lock behind the eternal lab is not casual player friendly. These are the majority of the player base.

Reason 2:

The lock behind the eternal lab highl prefers a game mechanic, a lot of people (really )dont like. Those who does like it are a significant minority.

Reason 3

And it is definetely very unfriedlich for SSF (SSF, SSFHC, RLSSF, RLSSFHC). Those players cant trade, like to play SSF and are NOT just a couple of a few hundred players. They are an integral part of the game.

My five cents, if those gems are eternal lab only:

Typical GGG - again, (like the archnemsis mods), never asked the player base
before something gamechanging is announced.

Similar with the "reworked chieftan". Everone at Exile Con, who knew the game a little better, knew the moment the new stats were shown, that no one will like it, almost no one will play it, because it is not good at all, its crap.

Why do not ask the player base in advance ?

kind regards

1. Majority of the player base, which almost exclusively includes casuals, quits after act 10 Kitava. This isn't just my word on it, Chris himself has said as much during an interview around Expedition league that most players bail on the game for the league after beating the campaign.

2. There's a number of exclusive rewards you can get in the game which are gated behind mechanics you may not like. I'd love to have a Mageblood, but I'm not ever gonna get one unless I run some blitz clear mapping build to grind for their cards, but I don't like that content. :P

3. You kinda put yourself in a handicap mode and made the game harder as a consequence. The game is balanced fundamentally around trading, and opting out of it will make the game more difficult. You don't have anyone to blame, but yourself for what is effectively deliberately aiming down and shooting yourself in the foot. :P
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Some time ago I heard something about no more lab in the future?
So this was just for PoE2 while PoE will have lab forever?
I thought I heard Mr. Wilson manically cackling somewhere :)

YES! MORE HARDCORE! SCREW THOSE SOFTCORE PUSSIES WITH MANDATORY HARDCORE! MWAHAH!

if the gems are random like the helm enchants are then they will be super expensive.

people who hate lab will be at a disadvantage now. not fair. lab is universally disliked, something like this shouldnt be locked behind it

It'll be interesting to see the market value.

Expensive helm enchants were expensive because they had to be on an appropriate helm relative to the build that wanted it. Meaning you had to have the right helm for the right enchants when you ran the lab.

A gem is just universal so there's no second layer outside of the RNG of the gem being the reward.

Unusual Gem Heists had very expensive gems but to an extent, the number of gem grand heists was gated by the blueprints+reveals+coins. Unless GGG is going to drastically claw back on offerings to the goddess, I don't think these new lab rewards will be as expensive.

i think ppl misunderstood something . on merc lab or uber lab not sure. you have ability to transform any gem you want . like cleave to alt version of cleave
If you take GGG´s anouncment in the patch notes literally, there is only lab, in which a gem transformation is possible. And that is the Enternal Lab. Not any other of the three remaining, lower level labs.

And if you compare their statement, that enchanments - as a whole - are replaced by something new, comparable, there is a simple but important inconsistency.

We have four labs, and all are "enchanment" capable, but now, we have only one
lab, the last and most tedious one, where you could get one of those new transforming gems.

It has nothing to do with Trade or not or SSF or not. Simply dont state, that something common is replaced by something common, when in fact it is not.

My five cents to GGG:

Be clear, dont sell something like it was before, when it is not and it is now placed into a severe bottleneck. And especially one, that only a few realy like to play.
At the moment, this does not fit.

I addressed this responding to your other thread. But in short, I think the use of "Eternal Lab" here is not referring to the difficulty of the lab but rather that being the full name of the lab. Mark addressed very clearly in the Q&A that you can do it in all 4 labs. The Uber Lab gives you 2 uses of the font.

I hope you are right! And I do very hope, that I am completely wrong. This would make a lot of people very happy.

... I am still not convinced... can you blame me, considering the Archnemesis-mod-desaster and the "super-duper" announced Chieftan ascendy at exile con?

regards

Watch the Q&A vid I linked in the other thread. It's started around an hour and 5 mins or so (give or take some). Mark is very clear in that video.
